Title: Newbie - JCM WBA-13-SS with JCM Sentry - no communication w/machine
Post by: JRector on August 29, 2016, 09:56:34 AM
Hello All,
I am am new to the world (of the interior) of slot machines. I have picked up an IGT S2000 with a 502 series board which now after reading many many posts for the past two weeks now boots and seems to be ready to operate once I figure out this last issue. BTW it now has the Valarta battery removed (minimal corrosion present) and a new coin battery with holder installed.

The bill validator/acceptor seems to do the appropriate startup procedure with minimal sound (sounds smooth). The JCM Sentry immediately has the flashing blue ambulance icon on startup. I have checked/ ohmed all wires to  bv and all seems correct. Settings on dos wot has are good.

I awaiting arrival of a clear chip and key chip as it seems is a requirement of ownership.

Any help would be appreciated as to a next step in the process. The elderly couple who I purchased the machine from said it just stopped one day and the light was flashing.

perfrom a netplex autoconfigure.  If that does not fix it, does your validator have an eprom chip or is it flash?  If it doesn't have an eprom chip (a flash chip will be surface mounted on it) then you may need to have your validator re-flashed.  Is there someone close by that you can take your validator transport and test on their machine?  Eproms rarely ever go bad, but there is that .0001% chance...

Thanks for the reply Rick.

I have looked at the eeprom to insure proper seating and such. I assume that I will have to use the key 17 eeprom to access the Netplex configure portion of the menu?

You don't need a keychip to access the autoconfig.  Menu number 4 under I/O devices option 4.3 autoconfigure netplex devices.

You don't need a keychip to access the autoconfig.  Menu number 4 under I/O devices option 4.3 autoconfigure netplex devices.

When I go into the menu onto 4 I only have access to: 4.1 input tests, 4.4 sound test, 4.5 set display test, and 4.6 dot matrix display test.

I have sort of fumbled my way through but knew I was looking for a Netplex item.

To initiate the menu I am turning the jackpot key one time from a freshly restarted machine. Is the correct procedure?

No, you open the door and press the button on the mpu board next to the status lights.  That is the correct procedure to get into the setup menus.  What you are doing is called the attendant menu and you cannot change any options from that menu.  Door needs to be opened while doing the menu changes.

Thanks to all who make up this site it has been a wealth of information but also sort of addicting.

That was it!!  Initiated the menu through the reset button and it was there and worked great. While there in the Netplex configure it said "printer 2 not found" ... There is a printer installed which I haven't tried out yet (no paper yet).  Should I be concerned that there will be a problem with printing when I tackle that next?

Thank you for all of your assistance in helping to resolve my problem!! :thank_you:

Now on to the little things like replacing burnt bulbs and one faulty ballast.

I believe the printer will timeout if there's no paper installed since it's off-line.  I've never done the autoconfig without paper.
