Title: 1996 Bally s5500 - Code 81
Post by: k.stai on August 13, 2017, 12:26:27 PM
Hello, we have a 1996 Bally S5500 that is displaying a code of 81 in the win paid window. From what I understand from other threads on this site, that means a dead battery/low voltage. I'm a newbie in the slot-owning hobby, so my first question is how do I replace the battery and where exactly is it located on the "motherboard"? I think I know which component it is, but before I go doing anything I want to be sure.  I've attached pictures of the machine and what I'm thinking is the battery.  Just looking to replace this battery and not do the AA conversion kit (will be selling the machine shorty as we are moving and won't have space at the new house for it).  Also, will I need clear chips to do reset after the battery install or just use the jumper? Thanks in advance! Much appreciated!

Just a jumper clear should work.
You will have to un-solder the battery to solder in a new one by removing the board from the metal tray.
If you have no battery, which is located at the upper right corner near the large chips in the middle, then you should send it to our shop so we can remove the modification someone did and have us put a battery in and test the board on our tester.
