my s2000 game has been working fine till last night. now it just keeps rebooting. it goes testing memory, testing netplex spins all three reels about three inches than starts over again. i have reseated everything i can think of,
-
Did you check your power supply behind the reels to make sure it's screwed in tight? Do you still have the green varta battery on you MPU board?
-
I had the same issue but it happened every 30 seconds or so... take out the power supply. Check for bent or pushed in pins.. reset it very firmly and tighten the screw. My issue was the screw wasn't tightened. Also check to cpu pins and reset the cpu firmly.. also do the same to the i/o cards. Bill

the green battery is removed from the board (been that way for a year) I reseated the cpu board and the chips on the board. have not done anything with the power supply. is it right behind the reels in the game ?
-
Yes behind the reels. It has a thumbscrew but sometimes a stubby phillips is required. Check that it is fully seated & screwed in but I had this happen once & I ended up having to replace the MPU. Good luck!
-
can I check the cpu board in a different game and see if it will come up with a code or will that make it where I have to clear chip it? that way I would know if its a power supply problem or not
-
Would be easier to take the power supply from the good machine and put it in the one you are having problems with.
-
You can test the power supply in any other machine you have, but first just remover the reel and see if it is secured right in its current game. I have found almost every power supply I check to be loose.
-
ok I made sure the power supply was seated good, screw was loose, tightened it up ,still have the problem. so I took the one out of my working game and it does the same thing. so can I test the mpu in my working game or what else should I try
-
any one have any ideas on this.still reboots all the time
-
I don't remember if the one of the 3 ballast can cause this problem.

I don't remember if the one of the 3 ballast can cause this problem.
That's a good thought and is easy enough to check, just unplug all of the fluorescent lamp ballasts.
-
ok I will try that
thanks
-
all lights unplugged and still does it. i put the board in another machine and it makes it to eeprom error. i think that is normal. i am stumped on this one.
I dont think its the board,i replaced the power supply and lights are unplugged. i will keep trying

How about putting the power supply from the good working machine into this RWB machine and see if the rebooting problem goes away?
-
I put the one out of the rwb in a good working game it worked fine, also put the good one out of the working game into rwb and get same problem
-
What MPU board do you have in the machine?
50x or 1270?
-
Could this problem be coming from a bad IO board?
-
ken, i have what i would call a 502 board, if this is not what you are asking what numbers are you looking for. thank you
-
so if this is from my i/o boards how do i check this. do i just unplug them . also i see two of them s this correct. thanks
-
Try changing the ram chips on your board or suspect bad software. Best way to check the software is putting the MPU in a different machine and going through the ram error resets till it works or presents with the same problem
-
ok guys i got this one going. so i pulled out the i/o board right next to the cpu and when i installed it back in the game stuck at testing memory. so read some more and found maybe ram was bad, so installed new ram and wham its all going. family will be happy now at Christmas time they will be able to play it. thank you all for the help.

cowboygames nailed it. thank you. so here the list of the steps i took to fix it
PROBLEM:GAME REBOOTS ALL THE TIME
(1) reseated all socket chips
(2) checked for loose power supply
(3)replace power supply with good one
(4)unplugged all lights
(5)put game board in another game (came up eeprom error)
(6)removed i/o board. (game stuck on testing memory now no reboot)
FIX: replaced ram on board with new, cleared all errors
PLAY ON
thanks all
