Title: Keep You Power Supply Clean....
Post by: 63mini on January 05, 2018, 05:04:51 PM

I know it has been stated before that those coins can get anywhere....

The other day I picked up an el cheapo Williams 550 video slot. I had found a few nickels on the floor of the game but, no big deal we have all see that before. So, I power up the game and the 5Vi and 18v LED would not come on. I figured OK, I have a power supply problem. After bending and twisting myself I was able to start to remove the power supply. As I did a few nickels fell out. When, I turned it around I was shock by the amount of nickels in there. The total count with what fell out was 48. It's like free money!  :cool_thumb_up:

Luckily, it seems that it was just a blown fuse. I did find any board damage and the component look fine. But, I'll find out for sure when the new fuses arrive. Then, I can check the regulator.

Attached is what it basically looked like when I removed it. Some coins shifted towards the boards as I moved it to the table.

I actuallly crack open all of my power supplies and clean them with Simple Green.  Yeah, coins in a power supply never have a happy ending.
