Title: SMLD / AVP Game Types and Compatability
Post by: SlotMachine4You on February 19, 2018, 10:09:49 AM
Entering the world of SMLD/AVP. I have 2 duel screen cabinets, 1 has the larger vertically mounted monitor on top, the other, a horizontally mounted monitor the same size as the MLD monitor below. I’m pretty sure both machines have a 3.0 brain box.

I have learned there are six different game types including type zero.  My question is how does one know which games will work in these types of machines.  Is there a list somewhere that tells you the machine requirements for each game type ?

Thanks

Mike

It's not that complicated. The game types refer to the GT files required for some "stepper video games" (the one's that look like stepper games, but are smld versions).  For the most part, if you have avp 3.0, and your bios is family 14 (most of the time it, is), any family 14 game will run as long as it's not IPC (Linked Progressive).  The firmware ID on the game will say if it is 14 or not, as the part number will reference family type in it.  The current games are family 20 games, and they require a new bios and OS.  Stick to family 14, they are more plentiful and easier to find.  Also the 4 digit firmware ID identifies whether or not the game is SAVP (Stepper AVP, the real stepper game).  If it has a 3 on it, it is a stepper game, 0, 1, 2, 4 and 5 are all video titles.  As an example, the game called Mighty Atlas as the following firmware ID

GAME14-001JP6-E05

GAME14 means family 14 game, 001JP6 is the firmware ID, and E05 is the version.

GCON games also  require a Type file (AKA GT file).  The pairing you just have to know.  Sizzler 777 posted a cross reference document in the files area.  You can get it there.
