Hi guys- I have an IGT Igame ( Super Cherry) that had been working fine. Hadnt turned in on in months, but did tonight and Call attendant error.Opened door and turned key- CGROM error. Looked at boards and things appear fine. What steps do I take here- I do have another game with full chipset I could try, but wanted to try and troubleshoot this first
-
Try cleaning the CG SIMM card contacts and see what happens. If that doesn't work try replacing it with the CG SIMM from the other set.
-
Will try. Do I just simply change the CG ROM even though its for the other game? Can you mix and Match the CGROm from one game with teh remaining PXL and game chips from another? When I change will I have to reset ( rekey ) the game?
-
It has to be the same as the one you are replacing (C0000660) or it will not work. When you said you had another game with a full chipset I thought it was a Super Cherry game too. If so, then just swap the CGF SIMM. If not and if cleaning the CGF contacts doesn't work you'll need to find a replacement for it.
-
So other than air alcohol swab, if it doesnt work how do I know its the chip and not the board itself? Also if I need to locate a chip where would I do that?

The MPU board board indicated the CGF simm is bad by the error message it generated. Although it's possible a component on the MPU board failed that effects reading data from the CGF simm it's pretty unlikely. Usually if the MPU board tells you a one of the game ROMs is bad, it is. One of our vendors could probably help you with a replacement if needed.

Thank you Tilt- So i would just ask one of teh vendors for the correct CGROM based on the number of the existing one. I appreciate your help.
-
That's correct. You need a Super Cherry 8MB CGF SIMM C0000660.
-
I have found an 8MB CG ROM that has the correct part number. But the number on the front label of mine says C0000660 and on the new one says C0000636. is this an issue?
-
Yes. The C0000XXX number tells you what software is on it. 660 = Super Cherry. 636 = Game King 5.0
I tried to respond to your PM, but your inbox is full.

Thanks Tilt- emptied the mailbox- didnt know 10 messages filled it-lol. SO the Simm is right, the C000*** is the number of the game on it. So in theory this Simm I found can be programmed with Super Cherry right?

Correct

Actually have been unlucky and cannot find a Simm, there is a Super Cherry set for $95 but that seems high when full sets with glass are going for that
-
im curious is this machine in Arizona or was it purchased from here.
-
No I am in NC

ok good i did work for a company had the same game and there was damage to the mpu that keep corrupting the cfg cards somehow.
