Title: Problem: CPU light gon on and off - will not complete startup
Post by: rjpohl on March 22, 2018, 10:24:17 AM
Shopping out igt s2000 game king (sit down).  When you turn power on the lights on CPU come on for a split second then go off for a few seconds then back on for split second.  It keeps repeating this cycle.

I found that if I remove cabinet i/o it will start to complete setup.  I've unplugged everything in the top cabinet, the printer, the BV, wiring harness to door, I think I have every cable disconnected that comes in or out of the i/o.

Any ideas??  I've even changed the motherboard.

thanks

Bob,  I think someone had a similar problem, turned out to be the +25 volt line was being pulled down, we started unplugging from the motherboard until the 25volt line stayed at its proper voltage, can't remember what the actual fix was, will contact the person and see if they remember.

if I unplug the motherboard connector that goes to the cabinet i/o the lights stay on.  I've unplugged everything that comes out of the i/o but didn't help.  My next step was to remove complete i/o harness and check it.
thanks

Bob,  if I remember ,we traced it to the dummy plug for the coin in unit, it was made wrong.

It is a sit down and has the plug like a hopper where the coin comparator fits.  There is a plug on it, I will check it in the morning.
thanks

I have pulled the whole cabinet i/o harness out of the machine, it is not connected to any thing but the motherboard (connection P8).

1.  with i/o board disconnected the cpu lights come on and stay on.
2.  with i/o board connected the lights come on for just a split second.

this harness has connection for hopper, and meters and also has a couple connections to power distribution board
i've looked at all connections for wires pulled loose, cut wires, etc

any thoughts?

Bob,   could you verify if any of the voltages are being drug down?  check the voltages at the motherboard connector, put the meter probes in the hole where the wire is ,  check, the solid red wire, using a black wire with a red stripe as the ground,  13vdc,  check the solid orange wire and any black wire with a orange stripe as the ground, 25vdc.

see if one of these disappear when you are having the problem.

Bob,  that would do it,  J-8 a 12 pin connector is a SENET output,  J-10 a 12 pin connector is the bill acceptor  connection,  first three pins are the +13vdc and +25 vdc,  one going to ground and the 13vdc on the 25 vdc line??  lucky something did burn up.
