Just did a RAM reset after replacing my battery and that all went will but my screen says Bill Validator Disabled. I looked and can not find where to enable it. The validator has a red circle with a line through it indicting that is disable but I never disabled it. There has got to be a setting that I missed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Make sure the comparator switch on the front is in the up position.
After clear you usually get an option to select the kind of bill validator you have installed.
-
My game maker does not have a coin camparator. This has a hopper but it's not set up to be used only cash in cash out.
-
If you enabled the correct bill validator in setup after replacing the battery then the problem could be with the seating of the cash can or the cash can enclosure door.
-
Checked all of that and I just replaced the battery in my second Game Maker and it's saying same thing Validator Disabled.
-
What clear chip are you using?
-
Game maker VIP P - 10
-
After the clear did you have an option to select the type of bill validator you have?
-
The choices were, JCM WBA, JCM DBA, GPT, and MARS1100, II set it to JCM WBA.
-
Have you tried doing a full clear by turning DIP switches 6,7, and 8 on?
Your board is recognizing the bill acceptor setting you selected but is not communicating with it.
This could be the BV comm chip on the MPU board or a bad EEPROM or simply the connectors on the back end of the machine side BV plug
Try re-seating them, it could also be as previously suggested a cash can door switch or cash can switch behind the cash can.
-
The BV comm chip is U19.
-
When I did the reset I only turned on 7 and 8 on dip switch # one. I don't see "Bill Validator Deactivated" anymore my monitor but I'm sending a picture of what my monitor does look like. Just a round red circle which is telling me it's not activated.
-
Can I use that same reset chip in U19 or do I need another reset chip?
-
No, that comm chip is rare but it could be your problem.
DON'T plug the clear chip into that socket.
Do you have a working board where you could swap the chip in U19 and see if the BV enables?
Are you sure your WBA has IDO 003 software installed?
-
I'm not sure if I have that update but I got two machines doing the exact same thing and when you open up the door the monitor says Bill acceptor failure and no printer if that helps
-
When I did the reset for the Bill validator I'm using the universal 6 which shows channel one $1 channel 2 $5 channel 3 $10 and channel for $20 but nowhere does it say to enable or disable to validater
-
I didn't try to do the reset with 6 7 8 dip switches in the on position should I try that?
-
Those are the DSW1 switches.
Are there program chips in the bottom of the bill validator with markings on them?
A EPROM with a label, what do they have printed on them?
-
WBA 12/13 ID003 then V3.34
-
The software is a little old but that is the correct IDO.
So we have narrowed it down to wiring or the BV comm chip, I would suspect wiring.
-
I'll check the wiring again but I have two machines doing the exact same thing can it possibly be in my settings that I got something wrong
-
I'll check the wiring again but remember I got two machines doing the exact same thing I tried the validators in each machine and nothing's changed. The round red light is lit on the validator so I got some kind of communication link to it
-
This is a screenshot of my bill validator test
-
Here is a screen shop of my validator test, I can get the 2 green arrows to come on - on the validator but I still have the red circle still lit in the middle, this is crazy.

The game needs to know how many credits to put on the game when a bill is accepted, if the "base" denomination is not set, say 5c, or 10c, or 25c, then the BV won't work.
check your setup after the clear.

Try and remove the cash can, reinstall it then if that don't work then remove the BV, open the transporter and the front head unit and clean it. When the cash can is seated and you put the BV back in the BV should cycle. On my V7200 machines, I couldn't get the red light to go off until I got the BV working properly. I friend of mine has 4 V7000 series machines like you have and he tried everything to get his red light to go out but nothing would work until he ordered used BV units. Those BV's are very touchy. Maybe try and reinstall the BV and open the from head unit. I remember doing that to one of my machines and for some unknown reason it starting working, very weird.
