Title: Game King Upright (5.3) Sound
Post by: Tilt on February 15, 2014, 03:28:45 PM
So mine has 5.3P software.  Poker games play the sound from only the left speaker and I think the subwoofer in the topbox.  Keno sounds will play through all three speakers.  Is this normal?  It would be great to have the poker games play L/R/Sub.

Thanks,
Jason

Yep, normal for poker on a GK/I-game that has a stereo cable installed.  There is a mono version of the cable, and in that case you'll hear the poker tones in both speakers, but you won't have true stereo for games that support it.

Just thought I'd add that before someone says "I have 5.3 and I have sound in both speakers".

Hey...what do think about splicing into the Left speaker sound and sending it to and splicing in with the Right speaker?  Mono sound out both speakers?...but would still sound better than it just coming out of one speaker.

If you really want to expand the mono sound - how about plugging the speaker wires
into a cheap analog auto equalizer and setting it to concert hall mode?

You could do that.  IGT's mono cable does it on the input side of the inline amplifier, but you could do it on the output side by running both speakers off the one output as you described.

I'm down for trying it.  Any photos or diagrams to be shared?

Sure, here you go.  The bottom right drawing is mono, bottom left stereo.  Audio from the MPU/Motherboard enters the topbox at P19.  So if you want to do it on the input side of the amplifier wire it as shown at P19 in the mono diagram.  If you want to do it on the output side, disconnect the right speaker, and splice it into wires running to the left.
