I just picked up a Bally Hot Shot Progressive machine & it had the MPU missing. I found a used MPU replaced both batteries & powered it up. It shows it booting, uncompressing linux, then ok booting the kernel. Then last prompt it shows is initializing game manager & then screen just goes blank & thats is......Now I dont know what software came with this MPU but I figured it would at least boot up.
Any help would be appreciated!!!

Machine needs to be cleared and reprogrammed after a battery change. Which MPU do you have? Which os card is in it? You will need to purchase a clear card if you don't have one. (avail by members here).

Ok sounds good thanks! Looks like I have the older Alpha 1 MPU without big video card. The OS card is AVO00000317-02. The game card is ASGS9000C000-03 64MB S6000 Game Converter for S9000 Alpha. Ok so I need to get a clear card, clear the MPU then figure out where to find the correct software for this?

The game card you mention is not a game card, but a bridge program to a PCI card with eproms. Does your mpu have a computer pci expansion board with some eproms on it? I don't believe Hot Shot Progressive was ever anything other than a bally 9000 game. Post a picture of your game and MPU. You may need to find the correct game card for it to work.

Thanks for info rickhunter....yes looks like it does have the PCI expansion board on it. Where can I find game & clear chip for it?
-
That is not a S9000. It is a M9000 v20/20 w/bonus wheel. Should use a AVG game card, not ASG. We need to figure out which game card you need. Machine also would be better suited with a 1gb CPU.
EDIT: Looks like you'll need a dual video card also.

Is there a name and number on a white strip on the inside of the belly door?

He has a plexi in the area for the top monitor, so it might just be a V20 with a wheel on it. First time I've ever seen that game, you definitely have the wrong software for it though. You will to find the correct game CF card for it to work. The MPU is probably ok, you will need to remove the pci card with the eproms on it as it does not work with your currently loaded game theme.

Change the battery on the back plane as well.

??? 20557x Ca$h Wheelâ„¢ C Hot Shot Progressive ???
Need 312 clear card if you can use the 512 cpu and 317 os.
-
It will probably work with the 512 cpu since I have a Instant Spin Winner wheel game that I"m using a 512 box with. But if the software is indeed 20557x (and it would make sense since the game pictured is one of the later games with the alpha2 style top wheel), you will probably need to change bios and use a 33x family OS. You could certainly try the game with the 317 bios/OS combination, but there is a high likelyhood that it won't based on my experience.

That makes a lot of sense Rick. So he will want to start with:
512 mpu box
Bios chip for 336 os AVBBP26S300M‐03
336 os
335 clear
20557x game card.

So the battery on the backplane is measuring 2.7volts, should be good. I tried a 512mb mpu but it wouldn't even boot up. After configuring all settings in setup now im getting a call attendant error...I turn the key & then it says machine fault, process fault= gamemgr (857). Any idea what would cause this??

Slot mpu is running a converter board which has s6000 software on it. As Rick said Pull the pci board as it is not needed.
