Title: Newbie with S-2000
Post by: daspaid on April 12, 2020, 02:52:16 PM
I need some help with an S-Plus S2000 (Wine & Roses).  After the unit finishes the powerup tests, the units three reels start rotating continuously, the display depicts (Call Attendant, Closure MB, and General Reel Tilt).  I have experience with commercial laundry equipment repair, HVAC repair, and some pinball machine repair.  I couldn’t find any type of error code that was of any help.

For the general reel tilt open the door and turn the reset key on the right side of the cabinet. That will take care of that. After the reel stop close the door and let us know what you get.

Your machine is a S2000 not S Plus.

:agreepost:   And I'll bet it has a leaky green varta battery on the MPU board which is responsible for the error messages.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to Thank the person that told me to turn the key on the right side with the door open to reset the slot, but that worked.  The other thing that is confusing me is the fact that I compared four pictures of different models of slots and the only one that looked like mine was the S-Plus.  This is a great forum.  Thanks again.  Why no model numbers on slots?

I have to ask this question.  My wife bought this slot several years ago.  We took delivery with no documentation.  I found a web site that showed four pictures of slots with types under each unit.  My slot looked like the S-Plus.  What should have told me that I had an S2000?

Please post a photo of the machine.
Your codes indicate it's a S-2000. The S plus only shows numerical codes.

The S+ has old fashioned LED digits readouts.  There's not texts, just numbers, so all error codes are depicted by a number.  The s2000 has a VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) that can show text messages. That's really the main tell.  There are various S2000 variants, the latest incarnation has a pair of "ear" speakers on either side of the top box, and has a large 4 inch woofer around the coin tray area (or just the plate that replaced the coin tray).  Earlier models had two small speaker openings on the bottom part of the top box on either side, but it has always had that woofer in the bottom right where the coin tray would be located.

Rickhunter

Thanks so much for the perfect explanation in the differences between the S+ and the S2000.  That was full of great information for a newbie to use which I qualify for.

Again, can you please post a picture of your machine? I'd just like to see it.

So far I haven't been able to send a pic.  This is the third try.  Don't know what I'm doing wrong.  File is 650K PNG.

I see my pic went through finally.  I wanted to include a question.  Before I took the pic, I turned the slot on and had a door open M error with the door closed and locked.  Any ideas?  Also, I sent $50 via PayPal a couple of days ago to thank this site for its help.  Not much of a contributor, but I'm learning from you guys. Thanks

This site is kind of hard to follow sometimes for an old f__t, but I'm learning.

Could be the belly door switch if it still has one.  Best to bypass it.

Does he still have the Varta on the MPU board?  With the machine OFF remove the coin tray so you can remove the MPU board. Take a clear pic or 2 and post it so we can see if there is or was acid damage.

Also make sure the latch for the main door is closed all the way, otherwise the door optics will not line up and give you the open door M message.

dspaid, I use paint.net (a free paint program online) to reduce pictures to 1000KB in order to post.

It's a great program where you can use arrows or circles to point out stuff as well as add numbers , letters, and basic editing to certain areas of a photo.
