Title: IGT PE+ Slant Top Help. Bad Config? Hopper Menu Gone :(
Post by: KaPH33n on July 14, 2020, 08:13:00 PM
I have a Slant top machine which is running Bonus Poker software. I had it at my workshop working right, and I thought great, let's bring her home. I emptied the hopper so that I wouldn't have as much coin slosh. When I got home I turned on the machine and it was flashing the red light. Something seems off, because it's not letting me add any more credits? I can't start any new games.

I tried adding the coins back into the hopper to see if that would help, but it didn't seem to do anything. The test menu never showed hopper full as 1, not sure if that's ever worked?

The other problem now is while I was debugging the problem I set the hopper size to 0. I was thinking this might let me start a new game? and I was going to go back into the settings again and change the hopper size back to 400, but now the entire hopper size menu setting is gone? It just skips the setting screen entirely. I know the hopper is still in there and connected because I can do the hopper test in the menus.

Does anyone know what I should do to get this working again? Jackpot reset key from the attract screen doesn't do much but list statistics. Should I remove my battery and let the settings wipe? Is there a better way to do that?

phew, false alarm guys.

I was able to get it playing again by messing with the config a bit. I'll post here for posterity in case it helps someone else in the future. Essentially to get the hopper size menu and some other options back I had to set the game option from non-progressive back to progressive.

I was then able to change the hopper size back to 400. However the hopper fully signal doesn't seem to ever work? I tried adding way more than 400 nickels and the sensor is still showing 0.

I suppose the next thing to do is to try to get that sensor working? Everything else seems to be ok now.

Hopper limit is max coins it will pay before going to hand pay, not how many coins it will hold.

I believe you are referencing the "hopper full" test on the self-test inputs screen, correct?

That will only show a "1" if the number of coins in the hopper are sufficient to ground the metal hopper probe sensor that is stuck inside the edge of the hopper. The only purpose for that probe is to tell the machine that the hopper is physically full and to divert any additional coins inserted to the overflow/drop.

Really, it only has relevance in a casino setting, and will not affect your gameplay at home.

I'm glad you got your hopper limit settings resolved, but adjusting the progressive setting should not have had any impact on the hopper limit setting. What likely did have some impact is if you had credits on your machine or not. You cannot adjust hopper or credit limits on the machine unless you have zero credits on the meter. If you have any credits on the machine, or are in the middle of a hand, the self test menu screens will completely skip over the credit/hopper limit settings.

Also remember that if you have credits on the machine most if not all of the settings cannot be altered.
Two options - clear the credits by playing the machine or run the clear chip through it.

Personally I think you should have transported it back to your shop as these slants are so easily carried.....   :stirthepot:   :propeller:

Glad to hear you got it working.
