Title: IGT Triple double diamond slot won’t take coins
Post by: Jeffro19 on December 26, 2023, 12:44:13 PM
I just picked up a IGT triple double diamond slot machine. I think this is a S2000 machine if not please let me know date MFG is 3/94.  Worked great when I went to look at it. Got home plugged it in and played a few times. Then it said winner paid 3300. Read online to reset it. Got the 61 message and turned key and it seemed like it reset. Now the bottom light on the top is flashing and it won’t expect coins at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

With those error codes it sounds like a S+
The easiest way to tell is - Where the player tracking bar is there are speakers on both sides of the S2000.

Post a picture of your slot with the door open. If you take a pic with a cell phone - email the picture to yourself - you will get a option to reduce the picture size, and then you can easily post the smaller picture.  :Please_Post_Pictures_2:

The 3300 is a hopper error on a S+
It simply means the machine tried to pay the winnings from the hopper and it didn't have enough coins. You may have to put coins into the hopper to let it finish the payout so that the error 3300 will go away. There could also be issues with the hopper that it isn't pushing the coins out but we can cross that bridge when we get there.

Turning the jackpot reset key puts the machine into stats mode. Open the door, close the door. The reels should spin once, the machine will try to start the payout (you will hear the hopper run) and you will probably be back to the 3300 error.

Let us know.

Date of manufacture is closer to a vintage S+ machine.
Take a picture of it. :Take_a_Photo:

[3300] is the optics in the hopper not seeing a coin passing thru it for a certain amount of time....or empty coin hopper.
Your machine is trying to do a coin payout.

When you get [61], press the little white Test button.
If your machine has the MPU on the left wall of the cabinet, the button is right on the MPU enclosure next to the wires for the door connector harness.
If your MPU is located on the back wall of your cabinet, the Test button is up by the power switch box.
It can also be located on the back of that power switch box as well.
OKay, so...press the little white button once, then close the door and make sure the door latch is fully downwards.
Now turn the Jackpot Reset key on the right hand side of the cabinet...either on top of the pull handle, or down below the pull handle.
The reels will spin.....when the "Insert Coin" lamp comes on, the game is ready to accept coins....maybe....haha

The candle will continue to flash until the completion of one game.

oops...we posted about the same time.
Listen to Jay...he knows a lot about these machines.

Thanks! I think I figured it out. There has to be a coin in the coin acceptor to recognize the denomination of coin?  Seems to work now. I did get the 3300 again but there was a dime stuck in the hopper so probably is what was wrong with it. What is the easier way to clear the 3300 code? Thanks again!

1). There has to be a coin in the coin acceptor to recognize the denomination of coin?

Yes...the same as the coins in the hopper.
it won't recognize the denom of the coin, it only recognizes the size, and copper composition of the coin.
You set the denomination for the machine in the Options.
Your machine may already be normally set for a quarter.

2). What is the easier way to clear the 3300 code?

Throw coins in the hopper bowl, and just let it pay out.
Don't use a Clear chip....that will just screw you up even more.

Congratulations on getting your game working again.

Make sure your using the right size of coin for the hopper.

The shelf or pin wheel (the moving part inside the hopper) lifts coins from the hopper and rolls them along the shelf knife (plastic thing held on with 2 screws that resembles a plastic knife) then the coin runs by the hopper optics ( U-shaped plastic thing) - the optics counts each coin as it rolls past and its dumped into the tray.

If you use too small a coin for the wheel that is installed in the hopper you can jam it. This can cause the motor to burn out. Assuming (the wrong size of coin) does get picked up the optic would likely miss counting the coin which can cause a run away hopper - and eventually a 3300 error. Since nothing is being counted. This is the same error you get when you have an empty hopper. Nothing counted - spins for too long, errors out.

If you use too large a coin the wheel might not pick it up, but if it does it can get jammed behind the optic and either break it or the coin falls off the knife and back into the hopper. Again you get to the 3300 error because coins are not getting counted.

Over time the knife can wear out, and occasionally needs replacement.  You would likely not need to replace the knife when a slot is used in the home environment but when you consider these machines were made in the 80's those parts could easily be over 40 years old. (This didn't appear to be your issue btw).

To clear this error - Coins in the hopper, open/close door.

There is a white button inside the machine which will take you through all kinds of settings, you then use the spin reels button or the reset key to change the settings. The guide to this depends on what GameChip you have in your machine. The document which explains all this matches with your Game Chip is called a PSR - Program Summary Report. While much is common between them different Game chips have different options. So you want to follow the right guide.

The reel chip is the theme and the document that governs your theme is called a PAR sheet (Pay table and Reel).

May I suggest that you go to our home page, bottom right side is RICKS FAQs - he has all the instructions on how to identify your game and reel chip on the screen. You can post back your Game and Reel chip numbers and some kind sole might pass you along those documents. After all it is Christmas and folks are in a giving mood. We also have a downloads section that is available to contributing members if you so choose to make a donation.

You will also see that there is the IGT Game Bible there. Any S+ can become any other S+ just by changing the 2 aforementioned chips, along with the glass and reel strips (The collection being called a game kit). SO if you want your 2 coin triple diamond to be a 5 coin double diamond. Its a 20 min job to change it over.

To Marks post - you will notice your glass says "coins" by all of the payouts and not $$ the machine is completely unaware of its denomination.
What controls the denomination is the Coin Head (chunk of metal where you put in the coins) - this makes sure your not trying to put a dollar or quarter into a Penny machine. The entry way is plenty wide to accept any coin but the coin head is matched to the size of coin by the coin head.

The second piece is the coin comparator - the CC-16 model is designed for dimes to quarters (I run mine off of quarter sized tokens) the CC-33 is designed for dollars and larger tokens. Ie high limit slots use $5, $20 tokens etc that are larger than a dollar coin. Below the comparator you will find the coin optics which need the proper spacer so a thin coin (like a dime) will register, or modified with spacers so a Nickle or dollar will fit. Finally we get back to the hopper which has to use the right wheel and have the optics height adjusted for the appropriate coin size.

Is my machine a S or a S plus. How do I tell the difference. Thanks.

It has a bill validator, so no possibility that it is an S.

The error codes you reported are also indicative of an S+

Also where is the best place to get parts. Like a lock for the door and maybe some replacement glass and plastic?

That model number is pretty much meaningless.
Generally speaking there is a IGT metal label just below the coin handle that usually has the model name and year of manufacture.
Everything you posted and the images says this is a S+

If you pull the MPU board and take a picture of it you can confirm 100% and you will also see the game and reel chips - they will likely have numbers on them.
1. Turn off the power
2. lift off the coin tray
3. Slide out the hopper (careful they are heavy)
4. Use the black knob on the tray at the back and lift up the board and remove it.

You can also follow the instructions in Ricks FAQs and get the chip numbers that way.

IF you go to the NLG home page - all of the banner ads have been GIVEN to good people who help out NLG members.
We don't sell banner ads. Everyone here is a volunteer and we take donations to offset the cost of bandwidth, hosting and storage.
Thousands of uploaded user images takes a lot of space.

I would start by calling them (often their web pages are out of date or aged).
If your buying items get your self a SET and CLEAR chip while your at it.
The SET chip will be needed to enable your bill validator and the Clear chip although rarely needed is used to reset the machine back to factory.
Once again you will want to review the PSR for your game chip and make sure you buy the right SET chip to match.

Ebay often has parts listed - many come from the vendors aforementioned and if so then buying direct saves you and them ebay fees.  If your not buying from a known source we have a thread going on some of the rip off artists out there.
