Title: Machine/Monitor cooling
Post by: Yoeddy1 on September 25, 2015, 11:28:59 PM
Hi guys,

In general, is there a downside to changing the direction of the case cooling fan of a slot machine?  In other words, instead of blowing hot air out of the machine, flipping the fan around the other way would pull cool air into the machine...assuming one has an adequately air conditioned room.

I ask this because 3 or so years ago, I put a Wells Gardner LCD in my Game King and after a few hours, the case on that sucker is pretty hot to the touch.  I thought I'd try changing the direction to see if pulling cool air into the machine would make a difference in the temperature of the monitor.  Maybe these LCD monitors can withstand a pretty good amount of heat and I shouldn't worry about it.  I know heat kills electronics, so I'm trying to keep it as cool as possible.

My WMS Bluebird Kristel LCD monitor has it's own fan on it, so it must require more cooling than other mfg's products.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

If you have fans at both the top of the machine and the bottom of the machine, it would not hurt to have the bottom fan bring cool air in and the top fan to push hot air out.
