Title: Magnificent 7s Sound
Post by: danatlvc on February 11, 2016, 07:23:43 AM
Howdy All,
I just finished restoring a Reels of Forune Slot that's been added to my game room. Unfortunately I don't like the sound set with the game using an 8116 board. All of the sounds are fine except the initial reel spin sound that is a sonar sound & then that sound again whip style again & louder then the other sounds that I really dislike & it gives you a headache after a while. The game is a lot like Magnificent 7s which I want to put in this machine. Does anyone happen to have the sound that I can aquire or copy to put in this machine? I use to havethe sound for it from a tourny machine, but have since copied over the eproms for other sound sets. I can't remember if it's one chip or a set of 2 for Mag 7s?
Thanks,
Dan

Hello!

You are the first person that I've seen with that model Universal machine.  I used to own a round top version of that same machine.  I sold it a few years back to make room for newer machines.  I have a printed version of the manual I purchased direct from Universal available for sale, let me know if you are interested.

Hello again,

I have some pictures of my main board and it looks like there are two sound chips installed.  The label shows:

8953-005 Sound - in socket 3
8953-003 Sound - in socket 4

Let me know if there are any other details you need from the picture...

Hello,
That's why I picked it up, as I've never have seen this model ever before. It might be what they put out before the Mag 7s, as it's basically the same, aside sound & only 2 coin. I drove 3 hours one way to pick it up, as I love the glass set & game. I'll PM you on the manual for it.
Thanks,
Dan

I found the Magnificent sound in my library except it wasn't filed under Universal & why I couldn't find it originally
Thanks All

Only a few selected games had dedicated sound chips. The Silent Service game had DATA chip 8953-0032, that has the sonar sound.

In the begining Universal had one sound chip. Later they had two sound chips and this is when reel spin sound came in. One chip is called the MAIN and the other is the DATA. The MAIN can be used with all DATA chips (8953-0022 thru 8953-0050), maybe more?, I don't know.
