gamemaker won't boot, no video
« on: February 22, 2021, 04:28:48 PM »
Hello,
my Gamemaker v7000 had been working great. I powered it up the other day and got no video, when I open it up I had only a green light on the +24v LED on the MPU board. the other voltage LED's were dark. After checking connections I ordered a power supply, After installing that all the voltage LED's are now green but it still will not boot. The monitor does flicker on and off and occasionally I will see the solid blue screen that I normally see when it boots up. The hopper wheel is also rotating about an inch every couple seconds and the hopper lights flash quickly as it does this. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
-Jeff

Update:
I went ahead and tried my clear chip. I do get the normal screens I usually see when I do a clear, "turn keyswitch" "shows current settings and says "press keyswitch to continue"  "restart machine" etc but when I remove clear chip change dip switches and reboot it goes back to no video and hopper cycling. ever since I installed different mains roms I don't get the chance to change the basic settings when doing a clear " jurisdiction, cabinet type, etc" I'm wondering if I need the other clear/debug chip. I may try putting in the old mains and running another clear. -Jeff

After a clear with the earlier versions of mains installed it comes up with the message below:

Saferam failure, Game Disabled
Main saferam: fail
Backup Saferam1: fail
backup saferam2: fail

putting the version 24 mains back in boots to no video flashing blue screen and hopper advancing an inch every second or 2.
I have ordered a debug chip and it should be here in a week. I will post an update after trying that. -Jeff

Thanks for posting your results and glad you got it up and running.  :applause:

I'm disappointed that no one bothered to chime in, back on Feb 22 or 24th. Seems we've simply lost members who used to know the Bally GM.
With that said, at least you followed the logical process and have a working machine.
