Title: $1 coin comparator
Post by: jthelman on March 04, 2024, 11:14:10 AM
I’m working on an S+ slot machine for a friend. The machine has an issue with the $1 coin comparator not taking all the $1 tokens but does take some. The $1 tokens are several different types, some are brass color or silver and different makes. It has an IC-33, 24AC Intelligent comparator. The machine did work taking all tokens but stopped working and purchased another coin comparator. I tried to shim the rake but just sent the coins to the hopper with no credits. I don’t see an adjustment for the sensitivity.

Hmm...I don't see any coin sensitivity adjustment screw with that particular coin comparitor.
If it once before worked taking all different types of dollar coins, then the rake was probably propped open.
Remember, it's a coin comparitor...that means it only compares coins with the one that placed in the Sample Coin and kicks everything else out the side door that doesn't match it.
You're using different types of dollar coins, so the only way to get them thru, is to bypass the rake and solenoid.

Turn it around and remove the two screws securing the rake's solenoid to the comparitor body..
Remove the rake completely and dis-connect the small grey wires as well.
Now all coins dropped thru, will go straight down into the coin-in optics - to become registered as credits back to the machine's computer.

Thanks for the quick response and explanation, I'll give it a try. Would it work if I removed the rake and grey wires on the non working comparator?
