Title: Changing denominations on PE poker machine
Post by: Clawsino on April 28, 2014, 10:40:21 PM
I have a IGT PE poker machine currently set for 25cents but the main screen says 50cents on it. I've scrolled through the settings and it says I need a set chip to change the denomination. Is this the same chip as for the S+ slots?? I have a set015 chip and I'm wondering if it will work, but im scared to try lol

Go for it! Have no fear...it will only just not work if it is the wrong one. Darrell (my husband) said if memory serves him correctly, it is the same chip (Set 15).

Roz,   don't think a 015 will work,   I always use a SET 004  for PE+

OK, I'll give it a try. Which space would I put the set chip in?? There's ram, data, and program. I'm guessing program??

Do you have a PE or a PE+?

If it's a PE, you won't be using a chip at all.

If it's a PE+, you'll need a SET chip, but only if you have a bill validator enabled.  If you don't have a bill validator, you won't need a chip for a PE+, either.

I'm not sure which mine is, how can I tell?? The bill validator is enabled and working on this machine, only accepts $1 bills. It was originally 50cents and I have changed it to quarters so I need to change the denomination for when the bills go in it will be 4 credits instead of 2. When i go through the settings with the white button it says i need a chip to change the denomination. My set015 chip did not work, unless it was put in the wrong place?

I believe you need a set 38 chip for PE & PE+, and it goes into program socket.

OK, my set015 didn't work in the program socket so your probably correct. Anyone know where I can get the set038 chip??

You have a PE+ ("Player's Edge Plus").  Once you get your SET chip, there are step-by-step directions on how to use it here:

It sounds like you already have a chip on the way, but for future reference you can try posting a "WTB" (Want To Buy) ad in the Classifieds section of the forum here.  When you buy from a vendor here or a reputable member, you're sure to get a working part and/or service after the sale.  That isn't always the case when you buy from some random person on eBay.

I got my set chip the other day and was able to change the denominations on my machines. I'm just curious now tho, i have one machine that seems "looser" on the double up feature as well as the cards on the flop. Is there one of the chips on the board that controls that? I would like to swap chips with another machine but I don't want to change the whole boards because only one machine out of 3 has sounds.

Nope, every game offers a fair shuffle in both the main game and the double-up game.  Short term anything can happen (including lots of wins, or lots of losses), but every play is a fresh and fair shuffle of a 52-card deck.  It's not legal in a casino in a regulated jurisdiction like Nevada to have a video poker game do anything other than offer a fair deal.

The only way casinos can control the long term payback percentage on a video poker machine is by adjusting the paytable (ie. a machine that pays back 9 for a full house won't win as much for the house as a machine that only pays back 8 for the same hand, all other payouts being equal).

Ok, sounds legitimate. I've had 4 or 5 of these Players Edge Draw Poker machines, some I have played more than others, but this particular one I seem to do better on. It's weird. There are quite a few removable chips on the board as well, I was just thinking that maybe one might have had something to do with odds. Any idea why I don't get sound on 2 of the machines? I've read it could be a number of things, from the speaker to the volume pot and even the whole cpu board could be bad. One of the machines trys to make a click at points when there would be sound, the other i get nothing at all. I will try to swap the boards around later to rule out any speaker issues.

Swapping boards sounds like a good place to start.  You could also try swapping speakers into and out of the working machine to identify if you have a bad speaker.  I'd also check the wiring and the connections.  Years of abuse in the casino including drinks spilled into the machines, etc, can cause connectors to get gunked up and not make a good connection.
