Recently acquired Advantage...
« on: April 03, 2022, 04:58:13 PM »
Recently acquired a Konami Advantage machine. It had been in a shed for some time, was all there and powered up but was pretty dirty. Anyhow it powered up and began the self test menu on the screen. All was well as it progressed through the self check, everything received an OK, until it got to the RAM portion then FAILED. Long story short, replaced the 3 CR2032 button cells on the CPU, obtained an EL key and was able to clear and set it up. Once through the complete boot process, it would latch out with a handful of errors. PRINTER NOT CONNECTED, BV NOT READY, and pretty much every door was an error, TOP BOX DOOR OPEN, LOGIC DOOR OPEN, SUB DOOR OPEN, MAIN DOOR OPEN, you get the idea. I was told printers will not work on these machines unless connected to a casino server or a TITO. So I went into the KMS (Konami Maintenance System) menu and disabled the printer, error gone. The BV is a WBA but it does not power up, so rather than hassle with it right now, also disabled and the error went away. Now, the bigger issue seems to be the doors. The RESET key does not clear them, I cannot disable them in the menu and they're latching errors, so I decided to start with the SUB (belly) DOOR. Checked the Cherry switch and all is well, continuity where it should be when it should be. Checked the 3 wire harness from the switch to the PCB on the back of the door, all good, continuity on all 3 wires end to end. I'm beginning to think there's a hardware/PCB issue in play here. All the doors? Seriously? They are all closed. Is there a commonality that the door switches share? Is there a sub-board or something that all the door switches are routed to? While I cant change or disable the door in the KMS, can it be done immediately after a CLEAR in the initial set up? Any and all suggestions appreciated. I hate to see this machine parted out or smashed to a million pieces and out at the curb because it pissed me off. Please help!!!
