Fortune 1 convert from 5 cents to 25 cents??
« on: July 22, 2018, 07:55:11 PM »
Hello all. I just acquired a $0.05 IGT video draw poker 1986 machine.  I would love to update to $0.25, does anyone know what parts and where I can find them to make this happen?  FYI $0.25 won't even fit into the little slot.....

I think you would need to show a few photos of the game to be sure. One of the outside and one of the inner door. At least you would need to change/modify the coin head, maybe the accepter and the coin shelf on the hopper. Also, the denomination decals. This may also include a few tweaking of parts depending on the model of game.

I would also think you should keep the parts - and sell as a 5c conversion kit. They are rare.

Yes, we need to make sure what model of machine you have (PE, PE+, Fortune II, etc). So post a photo of it and of the mpu board for identification.

you have a fortune 1 poker machine.  the coin mech can be changed to a 25 mechanical acceptor or an Imonex 25 cent.   the coin head would have to be replaced or filed. the coin head may be hard to come by, to file,  people usually will tape two hacksaw blades together and then run them in to the opening, shaving enough off so a quarter will pass through. you have to be careful when doing this so you will not scratch the surface of the top coin head. as for the hopper, a better picture is needed to see the distance between the tips on the pinwheel, ( this is to determine if a quarter will fit between them) then you wouldn't have to replace it. then you would only need a shelf wheel, and reposition the knife.

I have all the parts you would need.

Oh wow. Thank you so much for the reply and help. It almost seems easier than I thought. What about changing the denomination on the screen from $0.05 to $0.25. Do I need a chip for that or is it as simple as a jumper or dip switch?

How much for the parts to be shipped to 06082?

If you don't want to open up your coin head there has been a 25¢ coin head on fleabay.  Just search IGT 701. Not mine but, I thought I would point it out.

To change your door legend from 5c to 25c is easy. They are usually taped to the door glass from the inside. This game doesn’t need to be reprogrammed when you make the change to 25c. No jumper to move or chips to change.

My machine doesn't State $0.05 anywhere except for on the actual screen which is controlled by some switch or chip or something, otherwise how would it know?

There's a jumper box (IC shaped) switch on the MPU board where you can change denomination. You might have to play around with the jumpers to get the correct configuration. If you're lucky someone may have replaced it with a DIP switch.
I still need to change mine to 25¢ as it is a conversion as well.

Based on Jim's identification of the machine I've moved this discussion to the IGT Fortune 1 area. (everyone can continue posting messages as normal).

topache- here is the link to the NLG Fortune 1 area, in case you want to read other Fortune 1 discussions, they may have helpful information about your machine:

it appears my board doesn't have any jumpers nor dip switchs?
Does that seem correct?

There may have been different versions of the mpu board over time. Please post a good photo of it from above, showing the entire top of the circuit board. If it has an IGT part number on it then post that also.

Photo looks pretty good, did you find a part number for the board written on it somewhere? It may be something like "757 014 00". Below is a page showing game options that can be set by adding jumpers to the board at location D8. This might be what shortrackskater was referring to in reply#11. You can see that the board has reference letters written along one edge of the board, and reference numbers written on the adjacent edge of the board. You use these to find where row D and column 8 intersect to find board location D8. In your photo it looks like there is an empty socket at board location D8. So you could install a dipswitch, it would just press into that empty socket. Maybe someone more familiar than I am can say more about these jumpers for options.

Keep in mind these options may depend on the game software installed in the machine, which are the socketed chips that have labels on the top. Documents and information can be scarce for these older machines. If you add a dipswitch at the D8 socket you can try different settings to see what effect they have. I think on older video poker machines the normal game was not Jacks or Better, that came along later, so you had to have 2 pair or higher to win  (*I think*). Check back here often to see if someone that knows these machines better has added information.

Does your machine work ok now using nickels? Does it do credits, or are wins paid immediately from hopper?

Here is a partial parts diagram for the coin head, the part number listing gives the part number for a quarter coin entry if you decide to look for one instead of filing yours larger.

my location a D8 is just an empty socket, see pic. I've also attached some numbers not sure if that helps. Man I would love to have credit mode as well that would be neat. I have jacks or better currently.
