Hi All,

A friend of mine picked up a Big Buck Hunter Pro arcade cabinet that seemed to load, but "freeze" after a few moments (he doesn't know much about tech / games / or troubleshooting, but likely got a "deal" on it.)

Anyway,
I arrive and see that everything is CAKED in years of dirt and grim and I can hear the hard drive clicking away from a good 50 paces.  I take the PC back to my shop, clean it up and replace the IDE HDD with a NoS IDE HDD and use the factory Recovery DVD to re-install.

Re-Install works like a champ no errors or lockups, take the recovery DVD out and start up the PC.  IT seems to go through the motions and gets to the "Attach Controller I/O" or the like, so I figured, HDD repaired, machine's ready to go.

I bring it back to the cabinet, hook it all up and it seems to load, but then I get a black screen with "cursor" in the top left corner and nothing else loads.  When I pull the trigger on the gun(s) (either one) the screen flashes as it's supposed to, so I believe the PC/software/controller are working as expected.

I shut down the machine, and pulled the USB dongle and serial cable for the controller IO and it seems to "boot" as I'd expect, mostly, but still locks after the dongle check.

So, with controller and USB dongle unplugged, it boots up, asks for controller, I plug in the controller and it continues to load.  Then it prompts for the dongle, I plug that in, and it seems to continue (that screen goes away) but it goes black, again with that cursor in the upper left corner but nothing else.  Is it likely that my dongle / key is dead?  Anyone seen anything similar?  Know any other tricks/tips?

I'm going to post a video clip to show the two boot attempts I recorded after playing around with it some more... first, booting with everything attached, and then a boot attempt with me hitting "tab"/esc so you can see the boot messages, watch me plug in the USB dongle and see where it hangs.
