Title: JCM DBV-45 & DBV-145 power and data connectors
Post by: Winslow on June 30, 2023, 04:20:20 PM
Hi !

I just recently picked up two DBV-45's and two DBV-145's that are still in original boxes as part of a package deal but they didn't come with any power or data cables. It looks like the power/pulse connector is a 6 pin connector and there is a 14 pin connector that needs to have a jumper between pins 7 and 10.

I plan on using these in a few different arcade video games and would be using the 4 pulses per dollar setting. I'm assuming that these will work fine for this ?

I would need to build some harnesses that will interface with these DBV's. Does anyone have part numbers for these connectors? I think I remember seeing pictures of them online they lock into place and have a small push-button on one side of the connector to release it.

If not, does anyone have a source for where these harnesses can be bought?

The JCM manuals that came with these show the 6 pin connector as Part # J91017 and the 14 pin connector as Part # J91016. I'm assuming these are JCM part numbers because I haven't had much luck searching those part numbers on Google or Mouser. Does anyone have a cross reference number for these OEM part numbers?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

Here's a picture of the connections on the side of the DBV that I need connectors for.  Anyone got a source for these connectors or pre-made wiring harnesses?

The 6 pin is power for the 145 head, just plug it in, no special harness needed.
The larger connector normally is only used to light up the insert bill bezel.
The side, long, small brown connector connects to the bill transport behind the head.
12 pin ones are usually IGT and has a standard DBV transport behind the head, again no special harness is required.
The 11 pin version uses a longer bill transport for Sigma and Bally games, no harness here either.

These are the connectors that I need. They are typically found in slot machines to connect to the DBV. Where can I buy these?

Buy a DBV power supply and the 6 pin plug comes attached to it.

I suppose that's one way to get the power to the DBV but the coin / pulses signal wires are also on the 6 pin connector so that really doesn't help. I'm putting these into some Bally/Midway games like Cruisin' World and Ms Pac Man / Galaga reunion so the 12v is readily available on the switching power supply for the game. I just need to buy these connectors so that I can tap into that (already present) power supply and interface with the OEM DBV connector.

I guess I'll be calling JCM next week after the holiday to find out what these connectors are called and their part numbers. I'm also interested in buying eprom upgrades to the new bills. I'm seeing someone on EBAY selling them. My eprom version numbers are older than the ones available on EBAY. Next I'll need to figure out how to access that EPROM!

The DBV-200 uses the same 6 pin and 14 pin connection on the side.

Does anyone have any information on these connectors?!  A part number would be useful.  Even JCM themselves can not provide information on these connectors. So frustrating.

The DBV-200 manual has the Molex part numbers for these connectors. Page 6.

I doubt those bill acceptors will work for you.
Those DBV145's are outdated acceptors that had the protocol for S+ slot machines, and only take the old currency that used to have the small heads.
You would need the BV's that accept the large heads printed on the bills today.
Most 8 liners and arcade machines use bill acceptors like in these links I provided for you below...>>>
