Title: Players Edge-Horizontal Screen Roll
Post by: Ncovington100 on April 15, 2016, 01:44:32 PM
Hello, I have a 1990 Players Edge poker machine. I am experiencing fast vertical screen roll. I cannot find a vertical hold adjustment on this board. The positioning and stretch adjustments are not fixing this roll problem. There is however a pod knob broken for V.Ras in slot 303 of the monitor adjustment board. Any help or direction would be very helpful!

It could be the connector on the monitor that the game plugs into has a dirty or pushed out pin.

If it is a Ceronix monitor it could be your PRA-H is bad or the LA7850 chip is bad.

Thank you, I will try and reset the monitor connector into the board. What is a Pra-H? would the broken v.Ras adjustment cause a screen roll? I would not think so but wanted to ask.

A PRA is used on Ceronix monitor boards (and other brands) to save space on the board. It is a long piece of ceramic with many leads on it that solder to the main board. the ceramic has electronic parts etched on it.

There are many PRA's on the board all with different letters assigned. The "H" PRA deals mainly with Vert and Horz control circuitry.

Ok, thank you.  I have verified that the pins from the monitor to board are clean and ok. Also the pins and connection from the board to the piece that has the vertical and horizontal adjustment knobs are good. I will look for the PRA board. ( I am assuming it is different from the one with the Vertical and horizontal adjustment knobs on it) or is it the same thing?

I have added pictures of the machine and board. I see the A's and B's but have not yet found H.

H is right behind that big heat-sink in the middle of the board. The LA7850 (or 51) is next to it.

Thanks Badbaud for your help. There was actually a vertical hold adjustment pod in the area of the circuit board you referred me to that did the trick. Screen is working great now. I have all lights, sound and payout functionality but a few issues.
