I searched, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a Bluebird 2 with Jungle Wild 3 load and OLED front panel. My question is twofold:
1. Should the panel display bet information with this theme / load?
2. Is there a way to test the panel screens to confirm that they are all working properly ("Repeat Bet" shows, but all other buttons are blank and LEDs all work around buttons)

I can't answer #1 as I don't have that game but I would assume yes as every other game displays the WMS logo at a minimum even if there is nothing else.
To test the button panels, an external power supply and the WMS USB Test Comm Tool works well to check the buttons.

Is this the only game you have, or have you loaded another game previously? Does the game play at all?

This is currently my only game for this machine. The game plays perfectly fine, just have the blank OLEDs to contend with. I will see what I can do with bpracer's suggestion. Will have to research the power supply a little further to try it out.

Standard G+ Deluxe game and yes you should see the number of lines played on the top row displayed and the credits bet on the bottom row. Yes, the USB Test Comm tool will verify functionality. If the displays were shot on the top row of buttons, I wouldn't think it would function at all. Seems strange that the entire row is out, but playing blind. Wonder what firmware version is on the deck?

Is there an easy way to check the firmware version on the machine itself?

What's the cost running on one of those units? Ebay has a couple of listings for working panels so just wondering if I should go that route, or try to diagnose myself with the potential of replacing anyways.

Yeah you can find the button firmware version under the diagnostic menu and look for program version info. I've got a few button panels with non functional OLED screens but otherwise work.
If you have a laptop you can just plug the usb cable from a laptop into the button panel and run the button panel program from there while the machine is on. You won't hurt anything, and it'll save a few bucks from having to buy the power supply just for one button panel.

If the firmware version was incorrect, the game would tilt and would not play.

Update (12 hours late):
Loaded up Windows on bootcamp on my MacBook to run the USB Test Comm software and connected to buttons successfully. Buttons showed firmware 3.09 (AH HAH!). Found the tutorial to downgrade the firmware to 2.03 and proceeded through all line items. Success! Restart machine which proceeds to load panel firmware version 3.09 back onto the buttons.
I figured, what the heck, maybe the reset and reload of button firmware would kick start them into working. After a full reboot, I get button 13 only stating "Repeat Bet" with all others blank. I then decided to link back up to the PC to check them again. No luck. Only button 13 will show anything on the screen. Test Comm registers all button presses, but will not illuminate the buttons.
Can someone please make me feel better by saying I DON'T have to replace the panel, or am I just out of luck at this point?

On another note, I now get button animations on pressing the "Repeat Bet" button :applause:

Button images are usually loaded by the game upon first boot up. There are no other tilts on the game, correct? Even all the for switches are closed?
In the test program, did you have it show images? And is Oled usb button panel selected in the game setup? It normally is by default but never hurts to double check.

Do they they light up at all, or are they totally dark? Like power off all the lights in the room, do you see any kind of glow coming out of the buttons? You cold just have all bad buttons. I had a machine once that came off a casino sale. All buttons had the OLED screen totally burned. The game would work, but they wouldn't display anything. The casino techs had harvested the button panel to replace bad oleds on other panels is what I'm thinking.

There are no tilts on the machine and it is fully functional besides the buttons not showing anything. The LED's around the outside edges work well, but the screens are blank.
In the test program, I tested an image 1 by 1 and only button 13 (repeat bet) would show anything at all.

Just had the wife get down close to the buttons, and we can indeed see what is SUPPOSED to be on the screens. Looks like the panels are simply burned out. I went ahead and bought a deck off of eBay, so looks like I will be replacing it after all. Now I don't suppose anyone has some tips / tricks / tutorials on swapping the deck do they? :EmoticonHelp4:

Open only the belly door, remove the assembly that holds the CFL that backlights the small glass (usually the WMS logo) and the other panel to the right of it (which is where the player tracking screen is found in casinos). Then unplug the oled button panel which will have a 2 pin molex for power and a USB cable. Then the assembly just slides out towards you.
