I know nothing about converting displays. Would this be a plug and play option for the original Orange dot matrix display by using the original control board and power supply? http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/427/192g0641-279620.pdf (http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/427/192g0641-279620.pdf)

Is that the one priced at $458.62 ?
Even if it is a plug-n-play option that would be a high cost repair for a WMS 40X dotmation machine.

Yes that would be the one! Machine will not work without it. I've been searching but have not found anything yet. May have to bite the bullet and go this route. But hoping to find out if this is plug and play if I go this direction. Thank You

It would be interesting to see if it would work, the company logo at the top of that document shows a pinball machine in the logo. Many of the last pinball machines designed had a 192 column DMD that was the same or very similar to the one used by WMS on their 40X dotmation machines. Those pinball machines have quite a high value now, some worth in the thousands of dollars. A lot of pinball hobbyists have needed to repair or replace that DMD in those type of pinball machines and I've heard more than once that they would buy a DMD from a WMS dotmation machine that was being parted out. But I don't know if they had to make any other mods to go along with that. So maybe it's possible that the opposite is true, that you can use a pinball DMD of that size in the WMS dotmation machine.
It seems like anymore it is not often we hear of a WMS 40X machine dot matrix display becoming available from a machine getting parted out.
Will the WMS dotmation machine play if the dot matrix display is dead, you just get no animation that makes the game so fun? Or does the game software sense that the DMD is dead and the machine faults?

I may have a working unit. I will have to test it though. I'll go look for it this weekend and let you know. Will post pictures of it working if it does. It did when I put it away.

This is a Jackpot Stampede Deluxe and it shows an error and it is waiting for the display to initiate and will not go any further.
Rick , yes very interested in your DMD . Thank You!

Here is more info on DMD replacements. But I don't now anything about doing a new replacement like this. Hopefully someone here is familiar with the video/dotmation conversion/adaptation of these newer displays. Thank You! Tim

I found 2 of them. They are not pixel perfect, some of the lines on the display have burned out, but the display, power supply and the driver board work. If you are interested in either one, pm me your offer.
