Title: Hopper Jams after Dollar Conversion
Post by: smartin53 on August 03, 2017, 05:48:39 AM
So I converted my machine to dollar tokens and swapped out the wheel and knife in the hopper for dollars but I keep getting jams. Most of the time the coins just wedge behind the plastic knife. The knife supposedly supported both large and small coins but I am starting to wonder about that. Is there a specific knife that definitely works? I'm starting to think all the ones on ebay are just small coin ones that aren't really meant for dollars.

There is a difference between small coin and large coin hopper knifes so you can't believe everything on Ebay!

Doesn't the dollar coin use a completely different hopper on IGT machines? Seems to me the ones I saw were bigger. Maybe the chute going out is bigger on the dollar hoppers or something of that nature

depends what you converted it from?   the dollar hopper uses a different pinwheel and a different shelf wheel, depends on which dollar coin you are using as well,  for SBA coins you can usually get by using a 50 cent shelf wheel  and a dollar pin wheel and a small coin knife.

when you get the jam you have described, then I bet you have the wrong wheel in place.  I have all the parts you would need to do the conversion.

hope this helps

Some of the Dollar hoppers that I converted from Dollar to Quarter had a plastic spacer between the hopper bowl and where it mount to the hopper. There were also metal spacers that were used on the spring mounting screws... This was used to give more room in the bottom where the coins or tokens fall into the pinwheel since dollars are thicker the quarters..
