I'm totally new to WMS BB machines.  Could the jurisdiction EPROM mess with anything?  Maybe reseat it?  Aside from that chip, the batteries, and the compact flash cards, there isn't much left. Unless the MPU itself has an issue.

Got another MPU to test with?  Or clear with another game and OS?

Make sure you are running the newer BIOS v.2000 as well............. The chip is right there on top of the board near the JUR chip.

Otherwise it may just be a bad board/memory.............

Steve

So I'm new to this, is the JUR chip the EPROM?  Or is the BIOS the EPROM?  When I clear my machine, it says that it's Louisiana jurisdiction.  Here's a picture of mine.  Is it the latest BIOS?  Or do I need an upgraded chip?

Thanks,
Jason

Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack this thread.  Techguy is the original poster with the issue.  Mine is working just fine. I was just trying to determine how to verify the latest BIOS for all who read this thread.  I would imagine that if the EPROM is changed with a newer version, the user would have to clear and reload the game and OS correct?

Thanks,
Jason

Jason, you have the latest bios.  For the record, the EEProm (double EE) is the sjur chip, and it is an 8 pin little square chip, sometimes is has the label SJURxxxx sometimes it is just a black chip, but it is the ONLY 8 pin socketed DIP chip in the board.

Rick, I'm either blind, or REALLY tired tonight.  Does this chip need to be desoldered, or can I pop it out?  Could you point out which chip is the JUR chip?

Thanks,
Jason

Does anyone know if you can use a chip reader/writer to backup a jurisdiction chip at all or would it destroy the chip?

You don't need to change the BIOS, you just need a Mississippi SJUR chip (SPI).
