Bally Alpha 2 pro curve screen

(1/1)

kickaxis:
Hey guys,

New to the forums here but I check them for fixes all the time.
Recently had a alpha 2 pro curve reel screen stop working after a power outage.
The power LED flashes once per second.
Almost certain it's in the PS board, which happens to be the video board as well?
I checked all the capacitors on the board, since that's usually the problem, and there
are some surface mount aluminum electrolytic caps that aren't testing out. They seem to
be a bit out of reach at the moment, as I am limited to very specific suppliers,
and a new monitor/screen is in the price range of 2800 which is rediculous. :-/

Is there anyone that has had experience dealing with this set up before?
Perhaps having a bit of insight as to the common problems with these monitors?
Or having ran into the same problem?

Be happy to hear from you,
Dutch

Pwr. outage or casino cycling their generators causes havoc.  The monitor issue will most likely be in the pwr. supply. I don't know what it is doing-prob. black screen?.  They just blew up about 60 games here recently in just one casino out of 30+ here cycling their generators.

Thank you for your reply,

Yeah you guessed it. Black screen, back lite is on, trim and 7-seg on as well. Only the curve screen is out which makes the game unplayable.

Have the exact same issue here with the generator power cycling. This casino tried to cut a corner and didn't have the UPS system installed thinking it was no big deal. Well, bad idea because they've paid for the system 10 fold at this point through repairs and new parts.

The power supply board for the monitor however is conjoined with what I would label as the A/V board. Seems a bit odd not to have a board dedicated for the PS in case of repairs but then again they probably couldn't charge 2800 for a screen that way.

I'm still looking for a work-around to get this screen going so the dept doesn't have to shell out
for a complete replacement, but right now it's looking grim.

If you, or anyone else, have any suggestions I would like to hear them.

Do you have the resources to locate just the A/D board? Would be a lot cheaper than the whole monitor.

777sizzler:
If he were to list the part number there is a chance I may have it.  Not busting up or opening up my others for this to find out....These are expensive as are most the v-32 touch and t-32 transmisive "I-reel" based monitors.  A 32 non-touch is much more afforadable and folks have "adapted" to run certain games.
