Title: Reel Glass yellow flaking film ?
Post by: big_e on January 23, 2019, 10:42:29 AM
I am cleaning up an old Bally Continental 847.  Inside the reel glass is peeling.  Looks to be a yellow tape or thick yellow film.
What is it?  Can I peel it off?  Is there an easy way to peel it off?
Thanks Eric

Proceed with caution, this is a sticky situation. That yellowed tape might pull the graphics from the glass.Clear tape may have been applied to keep the graphics in place as in starting to lift off or protect from scratching. If the graphics are in tact, it may be best to not bother with it. ONLY once I ran some water over a glass and it removed some of the weaker graphics.

I’d leave it alone. If you damage the glass, you will be hard pressed to find a replacement.

Glass looks good from the front. I wouldn't mess with it.Nice dime machine, dime machines are  few  and  far  between.Casino's as I remember only had 1 or 2 on the floor. Just to insure you didn't leave with any change in your pocket.
Remember playing a double dime at the Golden Gate back in the day.
