Trying to set up a Konami Revolution. Start with clear card in and get this. Tried different clears, boards, etc. Software issue or clear card issue? Something else?

I'm afraid it sounds like you have a bad Clear card.

"Assertion Failed" means the programming in the Clear card isn't true or is corrupted. 

Therefore, the execution of your Clear card is interrupted and the message appears on your screen.
