Bally S5500 nickel machine only takes one nickel

Hi there.  I have a Bally S5500 nickel machine that will only take one nickel and then play, but it doesn't take 2 or 3 as it should.  The additional coins are rejected to the till.  When credits are loaded on the machine, you can play up to 3 credits but only 1 when you put nickels in.  Any ideas?

Sounds like it is set for token play possibly?

Thank you for the suggestion.  I am not sure what you mean by set to token play.  I just searched on it and came up with this from another thread:

Press the Test button while watching the display panel until it displays "11d".
The machine then cycles to the 1st option [27]
Use the Spin button to change the settings to (0003).
Close the door.

Is this the setting that you are suggesting to change?  Thank you for your help.

11d menu - Option #22 Tokenization should be 0000. If it is OK. Maybe do a clear and leave machine at default and try it. If that does not help, maybe the coin optics guide is for a large coin , like quarter size, and it's not detecting all the nickels or the comparator sensitivity needs to be adjusted fully CCW. Or the cap on the camparitor board is failing.
