Bill Validator replacement

Hi everyone.  I am totally new to the Odyssey world having recently picked up an Odyssey of our own.  From what I can tell everything about the machine is original.  I'm hoping to do two things.  One is get a hard drive that has Top Hat as well as some other favorites.  The other is to get a bill validator setup in the machine that will accept current bills.  The one that is in the machine will only take dollar bills (since those haven't changed since the machine was introduced).

How would I know if a bill validator would be compatible with this machine?  Does it send some code to the motherboard, or does it simply send a credit amount to the motherboard?  I'm looking to get more information to get this machine to work with all things 2023.  Thanks in advance for any help y'all can offer.

Send a message to NLG member mrzee2000. He has new updated bill validators for Odyssey's. He maybe be able to help you with hard drive and games.

Mrzee2000 should be able to help you with the bill validator upgrade.  Be advised that it requires disassembly of the machine and some minor metal work to accommodate the JCM acceptor. It's not as simple as replacing the existing DBV with a different one.

I have used his kits on a few machines and they work great.  It's nice to have a setup that accepts newer currency.

If he can't help with a new hard drive, I do have some available.  Kinda pricey but they are getting *really* hard to find now.
