Title: Can anyone help identify an AVP cable that needs replaced?
Post by: Samm329 on March 02, 2019, 10:47:24 AM
Hello all,

So my buddy sent me off with one of his IGT AVP units and about 20 brainboxes so I could rehab them. I got most of them working again, yay! Well long story short as I was testing one of them I unclipped the floppy cable that connects to the pci bios card, and as I pulled it out I heard pins dropping on the floor.

I ordered what I though was to be the correct cable, and it arrived too big. Does anyone have the official name for this cable or have an extra for sale by any chance?

Thanks
Samm

Just replace the connector.  This should be it.

Hey Rick,

Thanks for the reply. I’ve never actually replaced the heads before and to be honest with construction and shelling the project for a couple weeks I may have lost the cable completely. I’m sure it would surface, at any rate that’s why I was looking for it’s specific names so I could buy multiple cables to have a couple Incase this ever happens again.

Thanks
Samm

I don't know if there's an official name, I just call it the "AVP ribbon brainbox cable"  The actual cable is a 50 pin IDC cable with .025" spacing.

I did find my cable, so I will order a head and give it a shot. To see if it worked.

Thanks rick
