Was given 3 identical alpha machines. Been sitting a long time. They boot to unable to mount non volatile memory. Changed batteries in mpu and backplane on all 3. The only clear card I have that it at least recognizes is a 312. It stops at ok, loading kernel. Is there a different clear card? What am I missing? Thanks in advance

check your bios and os, the appropriate clear card needs to be used. there is a matrix, attached.
Thanks,
Wayne

Thanks for replies. I just dont understand what I have. All 3 are what the pic shows and I have tried cards 312,320,335,360

You have what appears to be an OS converter that allows use of Bally 6000 software. I have no personal experience with those but there should be conventional Alpha game and OS cards available for that game. Be sure the bios chip matches. Recommended AVBBP26S300M‐03, 336 OS, 335 clear and of course the appropriate game card.

ok, thanks I'll check into doing that

I usually pull out the nodss chip and put in an 807. Then use with a 317 os. (non 1mhz mpu only) The 312 clear works with those.
The machines that I get with converter cards say converter on the card. Take a picture of the mpu near the pci slot. Anything there?
Thanks,
Wayne

nothing wrote on mpu. I did have an 807 and 317 os. It did clear with 312. But after clear, using the 317 os and the game software got a dss signature failure. software is B305031G Double Hits Double Jackpot B&W

Here is info for your game card. I am not aware if you can run Class II software standalone. Maybe someone else knows for sure but I think not.
B305031X Black & White™ Double Jackpot EEE Quick Hits™, Class II 3 Reel, Stepper Reel or Video

Since all 3 machines are identical and everything was locked(had to drill locks) I assume they were working fine at one time.

No doubt they worked when connected to a Class II server based host but you are attempting to run them standalone.
