Title: Bally 873 no jackpot pays
Post by: Special k on February 28, 2023, 05:08:37 PM
My Bally 873 MGM will not pay out on any bar or Lion combinations. The JP lights flash and bell rings on Lions but nothing but a click in the upper unit on bars. All fruit pays on all lines pay out correct. I’ve been over the entire machine a dozen times and can’t figure it out.

Check the long pay finger contact blades on the left side of the hopper payout board. they should lay flat on the board, also remove all dirt from board.

I have went over the board several times. Board has been cleaned and properly adjusted. All wires are present and look good. I have 20 EM machines but just can’t figure this one out.

Sometimes there can be a separate relay in the head section just for 100 and 200 coin pays. Not widely used but have seen it once or twice.

got the full model number from the serial number plate under the handle (873-something .... the top number/letters on the plate)?

also, how much is it supposed to pay on the payouts that don't work?

a picture of the game front showing the payouts is even better.  If you are having trouble uploading a picture due to size limits, email to slotpics@cdyn.com and I'll downsize it and post it.

as pinwiz mentioned, there's often 1st thru 5th coin jackpot relays on the top board along with a separate jackpot relay, bar relays on the reel mech and specific symbol relays on the hopper.   Switches on some of those relays are changing which traces on the payout counter disc are energized, so a bad switch, poor plug connection or non-working relay will kill a payout.

Look for a jackpot relay mounted horizontally on the upper board.
Relays mounted horizontally that are seldom used collect lots of debris.
Definitely check for continuity as dirty contacts look closed, but don’t make any connection.
