Title: Bally alpha s9000 adding chasing lights on top bezel
Post by: Tsanders266 on April 07, 2023, 08:21:00 AM
I would like to add a led strip with chasing effect to the top bezel around the touch lcd screen just like the one around the reels.   I would like to have it synchronized so they both work at the same time Has this been done before or is this possible to do ?

The controller on the left side of the machine has the capability to run 2. There is a jumper on the board clearly marked, and an extra connector for it. These pics show the factory top one. Not sure about home made though anything is possible.
Thanks,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne.  I’m assuming that is the board next to the reels?  Mine is a little different I think because of the year?   I see that is the 15” monitor as I have the 20” monitor but it dose have the female molex  plug on the PCB board, where I would connect the LEDs I assume?  Any advice on LED strips to buy?  And to what pins  I would connect them to?

Alpha S9Es come in 15" and 20" top monitors.  Only the 15" has LEDs around the top monitor to help fill up the gap.  There is no place to add them on a 20" top monitor.  You might figure out a way to make some work but they would probably look terrible.  You can however add an A2 LCU board and install an A2 video topper with super candle and the leds on it and super candle will work.  You will need a media player to display what you want on the monitor.

Wow, what a nice pool and pool area. Nice pool table also. The bud lamp is a nice touch
😁

Thanks,

I think some of the bezels are translucent.  I would probably use the light set from a main door, and see if i could fit them in the upper 20" bezel.

Thanks guys for all the great ideas can’t wait for summer I think the rain is finally gone so we can start using the pool🤞.  I think I’ll try Wayne’s suggestion depending on how much $ it costs, shouldn’t be that much right?  Lol I’ll post back what I find.

So I couldn’t find much on main door parts on Google for LED bezels all I could find was the LED controller light board on eBay.  I did however find some color changing addressable LEDs so I am going to try and use these?  Don’t know if it will work but I want to try.  I am considering finally becoming a member on NLG but haven’t bit the bullet yet.  If anyone could tell me if the file download section would have schematics on the LED controller light board?  If anyone has info on connecting this LED strip to the second bezel plug on the LED controller light board? Thank you guys for all the help don’t know what I would do without this board

If you pull of your main door bezel, you can look at how it is wired.

For chase light effect you have to have a controller and leds wired correctly...so you buy a 3 channel controller which will use 3 separate circuits of leds.  Say you have 9 leds total, all the cathodes get wired together and connected to ground (black wire on my controller), the other leg of the led (anode) 3 get wired to circuit 1, 3 to circuit 2 and 3 to circuit 3.....it would look like 123123123....if you need more led's repeat as necessary without going over the current capacity of the controller. If you want a 3 ch controller I have a couple brand new adjustable speed 12vac ones. You need a 120vac to 12vac transformer. PM me for price.

Hey guys I think I have everything I need to run these lights I have the led strip individually addressable , i bought a ESP8266 micro controller and will flash with WLED and a  power supply,  but befor I remove the lcd screen on the top of the cabinet I was looking at the black plastic and it looks like it might not be translucent like the bottom main door reel bezel?  Can anyone confirm this for me and let me know if it is translucent like the bottom one? This is on an Bally alpha s9000 with the 20”  monitor on top.   Also couldn’t I just pull power from the 12v power supply that’s already in the machine or is it recommended to run another power supply to the new LEDs. One more thing I am going to buy the owners Manuel for the Bally alpha s9000 but want to make sure it has most if not all the schematics in the book I here that some Manuel’s are kind of vague or maybe it’s in the download section here on NLG if so I will finally become a member.  Thanks for all the help with this guys I really appreciate everything you guys are all so knowledgeable
