Title: OLED control panels….let me burn out or replace?
Post by: Yoeddy1 on May 13, 2023, 09:48:31 PM
So how many of you guys let your OLED buttons burn out, and don’t bother with replacing them?  I think I’m about there.  I max bet anyway, and at the rate that the buttons burn out plus the replacement expense, who cares?

On the other hand, how many of you guys replace them religiously?

Thanks,
Jason

When I first started purchasing the replacement OLED screens directly from Taiwan around April of 2010.
They were dirt cheap at the time....about $4.25 apiece.
It wasn't a big deal and I didn't really tell anyone where I was getting them from as I never bought anymore than a dozen or so.
I made a mistake of telling some people and they went nuts ordering hundreds of them....or the casinos started buying everything out?
After Covid, they made me get them from a U.S. distributor named US Micro Products and the price for the 1.1 inch PMOLED yellow/black screens was jacked up to $12.33 each @ 100 pcs.
I was seeing messages like this...>>>

" *Lead times are increasing by 4+ weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Place your requirements now to avoid disruption of supply.* "

$12.33 used to be the price for the large MAX/Repeat Bet screens!
I noticed that they were sometimes running out of stock and was told to wait until new pieces were made.
I only have four G23's now but all the old BB2's I'm scared about and many of them have screens that are nearing their respective lifetimes.
Once four or five go out, I start replacing them but yeah...they do NOT look good all blacked out.

Is there a part number for these?

I searched on US Micro Products website and didn't find them.  Spin Inc. has them for $21.75 each....  :hissyfit:

Where do you think Spin Inc. gets them from?   :duh:

I'd give Micro a call on Tuesday morning....ask for Rhia...tell her you want the ones with no bezel...might be a boxing day sale...>>>

Thanks for the info, they are a lot cheaper than Spin Inc.

There are two types of the 1.1 inch... with and without the bezel. The only ones in stock are the ones without the bezel.

If they didn't, I wouldn't have given you that link.

So, I have the Splash deck.  So I just take the old buttons out and replace them with these?  Easy to do?

Thanks,
Jason

As long as the ribbon cable tabs aren't soldered to the circuit board, not too hard to do.
Let's say you better have patience, and time on your hands.

Warning...If you plug the ribbon cable in backwards in the socket on the circuit board, it's a costly mistake.
I did that with the more expensive, larger screen for the Max/Repeat Bet button...I almost started crying when I watched the oled screen grow cloudy and dark....instantly burned out a $28 dollar screen...haha

Which button deck do you call the "splash" deck?
The one with that rubber membrane, or the one with the small springs on the four legs?
I think the deck with the rubber membrane is harder to do, but manageable.

I have to replace some more dead ones Tuesday...I'll make a video if you want?

If I can figure it out, you should not have a problem replacing them.
YouTube was my 2nd best friend. The advice I got here was my best friend.

So I inspected one of my WMS button panels today and noticed all the White Tabs holding the ribbon cable were broken???? Can this be fixed? Has anyone fixed the broken tabs?

Just finished replacing all the screens in two BB2 button panels, mine are the ones with the rubber membrane. Not that hard to do... They sure do look Purdy all lit up!!!
