Title: From 3 coin “Triple Cash” to 2 Coin “DD Deluxe”, chips required?
Post by: BivKrow on May 21, 2023, 10:47:22 AM
I swear I think this is the week of unique questions. For the life of me I’m looking everywhere online in the forums and I can’t get a definitive answer on requirements for switching from my 3 coin triple Cash theme to a two coin double diamond deluxe.

I’m probably over complicating everything again, but just so I know is there anything else other than the game chip eeprom required?(besides the kit obviously lol)

I should probably clarify that I understand I will need to reset and clear everything. I have the strips in the glass. I just want to make sure there are no specific ROM’s outside of the typical of that I would need.

I made my early Splus DD into a DD Haywire, just by changing the chips as there is not such thing as a "true" Splus DD Haywire, until the S2000. Changing into a Delux where there was such a think should be easly. So all you need is the chips, and you may not even need to do a clear. Try without first.

All that is needed is the glass, strips and SS chip.  Will probably get a 67 code: turn machine off and back on. then a 61 code: push test button until it changes to 61_1, close door and turn jackpot key one time and wait for reels to spin. Done, ready to play.

The answer is, "it depends."

You will for sure have to change the REEL ("SS") EPROM (one E, not two). You may have to change the GAME ("SP") EPROM installed in your Triple Cash game if it doesn't support Double Diamond Deluxe. If it's one of the more common ones, it likely supports Double Diamond Deluxe without needing a different chip.

Triple Cash is a Type 0 game. Double Diamond Deluxe is a Type 5 game.

Determine your current GAME ("SP") chip number (instructions here (http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm) if you need them), and then look at the SP chip list post (https://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=303.0) to see if your current chip supports Type 5 games. If it does, you do NOT need to replace the GAME ("SP") chip in your machine.

The following FAQ then lists the steps involved to change the game kit in your machine:
NLG S+ Game Change FAQ (http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/gamechange.htm)

Do NOT clear your machine or reset any settings unnecessarily.

If you encounter errors not listed in that FAQ, use the NLG Common IGT S+ Errors FAQ (http://www.newlifegames.net/igterrors/) to help you out.

Hello all,

I’ve been super busy with life and the convention season but basically I went ahead and followed the guide and it looks like I should be able to do it without any swapping other than the reel chip.

6331 0872 are the numbers that came up when I followed the guide and it looks like I’m good to go.

I’ll post a picture of the conversion when I’m done 😎👍
