1096 removing belly glass.
« on: April 03, 2023, 12:59:02 PM »
I'm putting LEDs in my sister's slots and for the most part they are pretty straight forward. The only exception is the belly glass on her 1096 machine. How do I access the fluorescent tube on this machine? I can see the fluorescent ballast from inside the door but I can't figure how to access the light.

Thank you that is what I'm looking for.

Is the ballast and starter for the light over the reels the one on the left side behind the reels? If so what is the easiest way to access it?

Is there a good place to tap into the AC (for LED transformer) preferably in the bottom where there is plenty of room. Should I just use the power going to one of the ballast? On a side note, why are the AC wires going to the ballast such thin gauge?

pull out the reel mech.  There's a a locking lever on each side ... swing it down and pull.  The entire mech will slide out.

if you are using a transformer, just look around for a place it fits.  The top compartment usually has room above the stuff on the insert board, and the back corner of the cabinet behind the handle area is another spot if a bell isn't hogging all the space.

often people use 120V led tubes.  You remove (or just bypass) the ballast and starter and wire the 120V that was going to the ballast directly to the tube sockets.

the wire gauge is sized to the current flowing in the circuit.  The flourescent lighting doesn't pull a lot of current, so thinner wire is fine.
