Removing "system volume information" from a loader

If you have ever stuck a loader into your Windows based PC and then it will not work in your AVP machine, most likely Windows added a little file on there that is hidden known as "system volume information"

AVP platform will not recognize a loader with this hidden file on the USB stick.

Here are the steps to remove the "system volume information"

Step 1.  On your computer select the drive that is your loader. You will see all the files on the loader.  PICTURE 1. you will also see your drive name in the top
             address bar. PICTURE 2

Step 2. Click the address bar and type in CMD and hit enter. PICTURE 3.  A command prompt will be displayed. PICTURE 4. It is the old dos prompt to some of us!

Step 3. Type in the following command     rmdir "system volume information" /s /q  and hit enter PICTURE 5

Step 4. After running the command you will return to the command prompt of your drive. PICTURE 6

Step 5. Type in EXIT and hit enter. PICTURE 7  you will return to your windows explorer.  NOW YOU ARE SAFE TO REMOVE YOUR LOADER AND USE IN YOUR AVP

Remember!!! EVERYTIME you insert your loader, you will have to remove the "system volume information"

Just download this batch file and save it to your desktop or where ever it would be convenient. Double click it and it will run automatically in 1 second or less. Remove the USB device and you are done. Next time you insert it into a Win 8 or newer computer, run it again before removing the device.

I have never had an issue with hidden files stoping a loader from working only diags.

Back then, any computer with an Operating System newer than Windows 7 used to add a one byte ".ds" file when you stuck a Compact Flash PCMCIA card from a Vision LCD into it.
It wouldn't work because the checksum would be off by one byte....you would have to go into the BGM card, erase the one byte file to get it to work again.

If memory serves me correctly, it is a hidden windows protected file that will not show up by just clicking "show hidden" files. It can only be seen in a DOS environment, hence why you must remove it from a command prompt.

Its part of the drive indexing it can be disabled but it will have a negative impact of the performance of the computer mainly your search bar will no longer work

All the more reason why people should be documenting and preserving slot software before the machines go extinct, just keep these things well away from the malware known as Microsoft Windows.

Apparently Windows can brick Aristocrat cards too as they apparently use non-standard data in the boot block or something like that and Windows automatically overwrites the "invalid" data with what it thinks should be there, only to give up mounting the drive less than a second later because it can't read the ext2 file system! Reverting that would seemingly require knowing what's originally meant to be there and hex editing the original bytes back to the card. I can only think that countless CF/CFast cards and SSDs have been thrown out because of that.

I actually do most of my work in linux its a lot easier to recover things like loaders off a games ssd. The tools many people use to backup and restore devices like cf cards often adds a header and a footer to the image.

Sorry for reviving an old topic but when I attempted to download that batch file Google Drive will not allow the download and immediately populates a message that says:
"Sorry, this file is infected with a virus.
Only the owner is allowed to download infected files."

Any idea why its doing this?
