Title: Thinking of converting bb2 temporarily to reels
Post by: fewpheonix on April 16, 2017, 08:57:16 AM
Hey - looking for some general advice here - I have run out of room for additional machines in my small game room, but I still want to diversify my slot experience. Thinking about buying transmissive reel set to have as an option to install at times in my bb2 cabinet. I don't know much about what this entails other than I need a shelf, reel assembly, reel strips, controller, harness, and software. How hard is this to install? One seller mentioned that it was relatively easy, but another seller said it was a pain to change the reel strips on the reel assembly if changing the theme. Any general advice would be great - and if anyone knows of where I can find a video of any of these processes being done - or if anyone wants to make a video/ pics to show some of process, I would be thrilled. Thanks to anyone who can kick in some advice or technical knowledge!

It's easy, it takes me under 5 minutes to change everything in the cabinet.  You need:

1.  Reels (3 or 5 reel types)
2.  Shelf (same for 3 or 5 reel)
3.  Controller and associated harnesses (basically SPN Cable and power harness)
4.  The 3 or 5 reel transmissive monitor.
5.  Software and strips.

You don't need the animator for goldfish 2 nor alice for the game to work.

You remove the standard video monitor.  Install shelf. Install controller and plug power to controller and spn cable .There's a shelf where the controllers slides into, but a lot of folks here just lay it down on the cabinet's bottom.  Install reels into the shelf, and plug them into the controller.  Install transmissive monitor.  Then you just setup the software and go.

Thanks for the reply. How hard is it to change reel strips on the reel assembly itself if you want to change themes/games?

Changing reel strips is as easy as pulling on off and installing new ones on. There is a notch on the basket and then you just wrap it around the reels.  I use scotch tap to keep them tight. Wont see it through the tranny monitor. I think I have 5-6 reel shelves sitting in my closet for different configurations.

Just a side note:

There are two different optic bands. Green and Orange. Depending on the game depends on which optics to use.
5x4 games require you to adjust the notch on the reels for the backlight.

But if you get one game... its easy.

Thanks! Again, if anyone is ambitious and wants to post pics and/or video of any of these processes, you will be my hero!
