Title: S-Plus Haywire
Post by: Ajmmmr on December 11, 2017, 02:35:22 PM
Hello everyone.  First time for me.  Just bought a IGT S Plus Haywire skit machine.  Anything in particular I should know?  Seems to be working fine so far.  Will be a Christmas present.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to NLG and congratulations on your purchase, the Haywire game is a lot of fun to play.

On any used machine that is new to you it is a good idea to pull the main circuit board (called the "mpu" board) and make sure the battery on it is not leaking and slowly causing damage to the circuit board. This will also let you see where the battery is, they need to be replaced every few years. The machine will give you an error message 12 when the battery is no longer good.

Thanks for the tip.  Is there any guides that would help me with that?  Also there are a few scratches on the chrome.  Anything you recommend for that?

If you don't already know NEVER pull the MPU board out with the power on. Make sure the power is OFF before removing the MPU or you could fry things.

Here is the IGT S+ area within NLG, it has lots of discussions about many topics related to the S+ model:

At the top of the S+ forum there are several "sticky" posts (permanent posts) that contain useful info and How-To guides.

Some owners report that scratched chrome can be made to look better by crumpling some aluminum foil into a ball and rubbing it over the scratches. The result you get depends on how bad the scratches are. Another idea is that since the S+ is such a plentiful model you can often get replacement chrome pieces from machines that are getting "parted out". If this is something you are interested in doing you can watch the Classified Ads area (link below) for announcements of S or S+ machines with parts being sold. Or you can post your own request looking for the particular chrome part and anyone that has the part will contact you.
