You mean you want a bulb right? Not the entire button. The button comes apart so you can change the bulb. The casinos would have a fit if they had to buy & install a new button assembly every time a bulb burned out.

Or is your button switch bad and that's what the problem is? If the button works ok (it bets 1 credit) when you press it but the bulb never comes on then probably needs a new bulb. But check the 2 wires connected underneath to the bulb connections, a wire may have come loose.

I think those bulbs are "wedge" base style. Someone here should have them, or you can check on ebay.

Here's examples:

Nope, the bulb is built in..  There is a seperate switch that locks into the bulb housing that activates the coin or credit when you depress the button. There's no way to take the plastic top out of the housing to replace the bulb.. I can get pic tomorrow, getting my big clumsy meat hooks in there is a B,,, lol

ok, I'm willing to bet something on this, I think you can take the button lens off & change the bulb.  :odie:

I think there is a removal trick that uses small-size fishing line.

Below is an old car my assistant is wanting to sell or trade, I might be able to make our bet with it.  :garfield:

But you can buy replacement buttons assemblies also. Send Jim at Midwest Slots a message to see if he has one.

Is there a car in that pic?

Yes those lens will come off and can change bulbs from top.

Here is a whole set of replacements: https://ebay.us/wvhWzC

That machine looks like an Early S+ or and S model. Those desk buttons look like some I’ve seen on late model Fortune 1 video pokers and PE machines.
If you remove the inside door panel, it should be just a few Phillips screws, you might have better success getting your hand in there to get at the bulb, or to get us a picture of what you have.

I too have one of those old S+ machines. The plastic was so brittle, it fell apart in my fingers. Those old bulbs got hot in there.

I had all 5 crumble on me before trying to install led bulbs and new white inserts.  A good thing to do is paint that white reflector/actuator, makes the bulbs much brighter and the buttons look alot better.

I have gone to replacing S+ deck buttons with ones from the S2000 games. I don’t think they will fit the holes in this early deck button panel. If you do this swap make sure you get the whole button with the switch and bulb sockets. P

That's the only way to go!

Well I figured out , after breaking one,(it's still usable) that YES you can change the bulbs.. Using a hair dryer to soften antique plastic and an old pin adjust tool for older style J blocks,
( automotive fuseblocks, it looks like a pencil lead thin piece of steel \, like an ice pick only thinner) you can compress 2 L shaped arms that go completely thru the base and then the whole lens assembly pops out and there's the mini bulb. So thanks for making me believe they come apart...  :thank_you:

you're welcome.   :garfield:

Those buttons are assembled from individual parts, so they can be taken apart. If you had some spare lenses that would be the way to go, then just replace the lens if the old one cracks while you are replacing the bulb.

So it is possible to change just the bulb, but you can understand why some folks replace the entire button assembly.

The bulb should have a number printed on it, like #86 or whatever. I think they are 6.3 volt bubs, but someone here will correct me if that is wrong.

Contact Jim at Midwest Slots if you need replacement button assemblies, he often has some. But he may need a photo or measurement of yours, IGT changed them over the years.
