Happy holidays everyone. I am a newbie here (a Cincinnati Ohio resident) and have a IGT Game King 96419000. Recently, the battery died on the motherboard. I have successfully replaced it and have the machine booting back up and functioning. The issue is that the game was setup with an a coin hopper and has a printer installed. With the reset, it no longer recognizes that setup. My understanding is that a "keychip" is needed to disable the coin hopper and enable the printer. I am a fairly technical person, but just am not that familiar with these systems. I am trying to find someone who may be able to help me remedy this issue? I just don't know where to start on the keychip in determining what one I need and how to go about using it.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Please post a picture of your machine. Pictures have to be less than 1MB, so resize as necessary to get it under that limitation. Also post a picture of your MPU board and make sure the numbers on the game chips are legible. They're the ones in sockets that have labels on the tops of them (hopefully anyhow). Make sure to turn off the machine before removing or installing any components! From that we'll be able to tell you what keychip you need to use.

Thank you for being willing to help me! I have attached pictures of the machine and the MPU board. Please let me know if you need more close up photos of anything. One of the chips has a sticker that says, "Boot 39" on it. Not sure if that is what we are after or not. Thank you again for the help!

You have an 044 board with flashboard. Hopefully that is a DEV39 boot chip. Turn machine on while holding in the white test button on MPU. Hold it in until you see something on screen. Choose keychip/ non-wap keychip and restart. When machine reboots: go to setup/machine options/perpheral devices setup.

Thank you so much! This allowed me to enable and disable things. I enabled the printer, but when I cash out a ticket now, it says it must be hand paid. Do you know how to make it print it? Sorry for all the newbie questions. You guys are really helpful. Thank you!

Do you have a Ticket In Ticket Out (TITO) board installed in your machine? If you could print tickets before the battery change and your machine accepted them, then you do. If it only printed them, but wouldn't accept them then you probably don't.

Thank you! The machine has the ability to print, but can’t read tickets. I was able to play with the menus a bit more and was able to get it to print again. I had to change something on the redemption validation menu. I should be good to go with all the help provided here. I’m grateful for the assistance.
To prevent going through this in the future, what is the best way to do it? Replace the battery periodically? The place I bought the machine from said it was best to leave the machine running all the time, which we have done. I’d love to hear your expert opinions.

Ok great, glad to hear you got it setup the way you want it :applause:.
My experience is 044 MPU batteries last about 18 months or so and then they die. Changing them before they die won't do you any good as you have to remove the old one first and when you do that the data held in the CMOS memory will perish too. Then you'll have to do just as you did to get it back up and running the way you want it, so you might as well get your money's worth out of it and let it go till it's gone. Some people may say you can turn it off, but zero the credits first and the battery will last longer. They have no idea what they're talking about.
I keep my machines off unless I intend on using them. Running them 24/7 only runs up your electric bill and ages the machine's components. LCD CCFL's have a limited lifetime, heat causes capacitors to dry out and fail, UV radiation from lights fades glass artwork, etc.
My 2c. It's your machine and your money, do as you wish with it.

I have the same model Game King as you and my battery lasts about 2-years. I also have 11 other slot machines. I never leave my slots on all the time. I don't see any advantage in it. I only turn them on when I want to play them, then turn them off at the end of the day. I don't subscribe to the belief that its best to leave them on. It's true that they are designed to be on all the time in a casino environment, but I see no harm or significantly shortened battery life by turning them off for home use. Just my opinion. Whichever you do, you will still be periodically changing the battery and probably having to reset some things as you did this time. My advice is to keep some notes to make it easier next time.

Thank you so much for the feedback on leaving them on versus off. You guys really do rock. I had no idea where to go for this info. I am definitely going to start shutting them off when not in use. I have never been a fan of leaving these on, but went with the reseller's advice. I will be printing out these instructions for future use, as my memory isn't what it used to be.
I have one other slot machine that we bought at the same time. A triple stars slots IGT 964383000. It is coming up on about the same time frame on the battery, so I expect it may fail soon also. Would you be able to look at my MPU (pictures attached) and tell me how hard it will be to reset this one when the battery goes? I realize it is a less sophisticated machine, but it also has a small screen that seems to be more manual to an amateur like me. Will this require a key chip to reprogram?

For your S2000 slot machine, there will be nothing to reset. The battery change is simple. Just change the battery. When you boot up for the first time after a battery change you will get an alarm. Just turn the reset key 3 times, press the white button on the MPU then close the door.
I noticed an issue in your bottom photo. You have a green varta battery on your board. This battery is not necessary for home use and if it isn't removed it will eventually leak and destroy your board. It's not a matter of if but when. If not removed, you will one day be buying a new board. Yours is the enhanced 1270 board. When removing the Varta battery, you must also remove the small voltage regulator chip U16. There is some information on this in the link. I also attached a photo of my 1270 board with the Varta and U16 removed.

Thank you, Dailey, for the procedure to get things running after a battery replacement for the slot machine. I will keep that handy for when it goes. I also appreciate the heads up on the Varta battery issue. I wasn’t aware of that. Looking at the instructions, it may be a bit outside my technical ability. Is it difficult to cut the leads and to pop that U16 chip off with small tools or do you need something more specialized?

Just about anyone should be able to remove the Varta with no soldering required.
First remove the phillips screws on the memory board above it and lift it off the mpu board so it's exposed like in dailey's pic. I found that the easiest way is to then use a small channel-lock pliers to grab and wiggle the Varta a little side to side till one (or more) legs snap off. Then use your fingers to hold it, wiggle back and forth a bit more and the others will also break off so you can remove it completely. Inspect for any signs of battery leakage/corrosion and gently clean area under it with rubbing alcohol. U16 is easiest to remove using a mini side/flush-cut pliers. (If you don't have one you can just get a cheap one from harbor freight or an inexpensive one from amazon.) Clip the four legs flush with mpu board and gently pry it off with a jewelers screwdriver. Reverse the board removal and you should be good.
Just my $0.02 but I'd highly suggest you also look at getting a couple of Tito boards. That way both of your machines will be able to accept the tickets that either one prints instead of cash.
