Well I guess that's one way at looking at things. Here's another.
This site DOES NOT exist for free. The owners of this site have the ONGOING financial responsibility and the ONGOING time consuming responsibility of creating /managing it...I think that's called administration.... The owners of this site also do not gain anything from the WTB and WTS ads to help cover the costs and time. The owners of this site also do not gain anything from members stopping by to get help with there machines, either directly by asking for help or by researching the massive library of past posts/threads.
You could certainly go elsewhere to get your stuff, like Ebay where prices can be inflated to pay for the costs of listing and PayPal fees or the quality of the product could be subject. You could also take the time to call Vendors nationwide (only a handful have web sites offering specific parts) to find what your looking for (seems inconvenient to me) where prices are also inflated since they take all the risks in buying truckloads of untested machines and parts from the casinos.
OR...you could rip 5 BUCKS outta your wallet and ship it....your problem is solved....post what you want and people come to you and typically at great pricing. OR right at this time you can tear a little more out and take advantage of the FREE slot machine giveaway going on....see here at this link: :cool_thumb_up:

I was having a 4 HOUR headache trying to figure out why I was getting an "Invalid Progressives" prompt on a game. Clear,Program...Clear/Program...Clear/Program...Trying all kinds of numeric settings,etc.
Did a Google search...Came up with a link to an NLG posting... Problem SOLVED!! I wasn't going to bug my fellow slot vendors that have Bally Factory Support access - they have bigger fish to fry than my little minnow of a problem. NLG Forum to the rescue!!
That's worth a healthy donation in MY book!!!
And now I think I'll post a WTB listing...

While I can fully understand not letting non contributing members post items for sale, what would be so wrong for them to be able to post for something they need?
Many of you that are dealers of parts and machines are missing out on potential sales by not letting non contributing members post for what they need.

That's a valid point, but nonmembers are still free to contact vendors listed on the homepage directly, for free, to inquire about the things they might need.

I agree with you. pushing everything underground now. instead of posting on classifieds ive had to private message people to find what I want instead of posting a wanted to buy ad for everyone to see and potential vendors to contact me. I don't even bother with the classifieds pages now which kind of sucks since I have a bunch of s+ parts id love to get rid of lol

Another thing you need to convince me of is why should I give a shit if you sell those S+ parts or not !! You take the buying and selling of parts underground, why don't you take the repair of your machine underground ?? Three weeks ago you bitch about the
Classifieds and then make 13 post about repairing your machine, :wtf1: is this !! " You Play, You Pay" or like my Boys Mother use to tell them, " Don't let the door hit you in the ass when you leave "
As I understand the new software on this Forum allows a Non-Contrubing Member (10) PMs and then you get locked out from that section. I guess there is always Ebay, but don't you have a problem with the duty of parts in and out of canada ?? Do I hear scrape yard ?? All of this over five bucks a month.

We contribute to NLG for many reasons, the foremost being that this was the one and only site where COMPLETE STRANGERS would take time out of their lives to help us on a machine many years ago. The privilege of having access to all of the knowledge here, AND the bonus of being able to sell some parts here and there on the Classifieds is just a BONUS.
While I understand that the inability to post to the Classifieds is upsetting some folks. Well, eBay fees upset me! At 8% Final Value Fee on eBay (I believe that's what is on our category), it adds up quick, so throwing a few bucks towards NLG for the privilege of being able to post WTB and WTS ads is NOTHING!!!!!!!!
And as far as the help and support for machine repairs? Call a couple of slot dealers in your area and see what they charge for service/house call, diagnosis, and repair.

We have a very loyal dog here. She returns us with love and companship and has lot's of room to roam in the 5 acres and much to explore. I left the gates open the other day and the mutt's came in and ate all her food and made a mess of things.

You're unbelievable. All of us who have found the true value of this site not only pay but many of us also volunteer to do what we can to help keep it running smoothly. If funds are so tight you don't feel you should pay for what you get, you may want to consider a less expensive hobby.

lol hate on me all you want but im the kind of person who doesn't even have a magazine subscription. I don't believe in paying for something monthly, especially a forum website that I only check certain pages of. I have barely any monthly payments and I like to keep it that way. I don't do subscriptions, everyone wants your money now a days. I like to keep mine, however I understand the need for funds to keep the website going, but really did we need to upgrade to this new fancy site? the old one worked fine for me and had lots of good archived information. anyways I don't mind being just a regular member, doesn't matter to me. it just would have been nice to post on classifieds every once in awhile. oh well

The software on the old site is no longer supported, no choice but to upgrade. It is what it is, but this is still the best place in the world for home slot hobbyists to come and get help and parts for their machines, that's why it comes up first when you Google for help. Like it or leave it, we just want to survive and continue to do what we do. Like was said earlier, you don't have to subscribe, you can use this as a read only site, just like a magazine or internet news site, for free all day long and advertise for what you need on craigslist or whatever. To actively participate then you have to actively support, it's a team/community effort.

Actually Joey started this new site because he was bored and nothing to do. That's why he has 338 hours and 59 minutes logged time ( that's not counting un-logged time ) getting this site up and running. But it really doesn't make any difference one way or the other to you or me. My youngest once taught me a word, it's " Nun-ya " and what that means is "it's none of your fucking business why." But if this makes you feel better I'll tell you why. I use to work for a Contractor and he use to tell me " Don't Fuck with a sore Dick " The old site was a sore dick and now it's not being used anymore !!
Let me ask you a question, because I've never heard of it happening. Did NLG go out and recruit you to become a member of this forum , or did you just find it on your own something like a walk on ?? Another question, who needs who, does NLG need you or do you need NLG ?? Personally I got along just fine before I ever heard anything from you and I'll bet I don't loose any sleep after your gone.

This member can sign up for a mod. job and on specific topics be your BOSS--ha--I did not make the rules and I would very much think you could care less about most rules anyway. However you have said some "colorful" metaphors which I and many thought but could not post here. I kinda hope he does sign up for a mod. job myself. You can pm me for the answer to that statement. Clizifer, after viewing this topic thread I went back to the old site and reviewed your 83 posts since you became a member in Jan 2013. Not one of those posts were to assist another member, they were all posts to fix problems in your gaming or arcade machines. This would make it seem your offer to moderate a topic would be insincere and would again just benefit YOU with access to the classified section.

I don't moderate a topic for the free ride!!! I do it to give back just a little of what this site has given me. I still donate to NLG, the information I have gotten from the great users here is nothing short of amazing. I'm not bashing anyone for trying to save money, I'm one of the cheapest SOBs you will find. (just ask Roz)
I have spent my life working in service industries and like it or not service costs money. If you don't want to pay for the service don't, but do not complain when paying members get more privileges on the site than you do. NOTE MY CHOICE OF WORDS [blink]"Privilege"[/blink]

And the moral of all this is, We/most all here will help anyone, But when it gets taken advantage of..... It does not matter the rank here,the help is here but the bitching about axcess in this case idicates a true full-blown Free-loader. I am done with this one here (specific matter/member). As a note I also contribute and do not have to, Why? Because years ago and still now this is the best resource for games that deals with people and it is a people place unlike other icy forums that would never give you the time of day.

As a newbie to this hobbie, I cant believe what I just read from clizifer and anybody that thinks sites like this should be free..the wealth of knowledge that is here that anyone can access at anytime just amazes me..i was a member on the old forum and I still go back and read old post constantly..The help I received on some posts was invaluable to me..Old Reno, Op-Bell , Foxslots, just to name a few were always willing to help me and anybody for that matter on older bally E/M's..And now Just last week ive met a new batch of experts that took a lot of time to help me with my IGT S+ problems..And not just help with advice, im getting the parts I need shipped to me so we can finish my thread and put that topic solved sign up..Ive never had anybody offer to send me parts at N/C to try on my machine, .that actually blew me away..and then to read this whiner clizifer complain about $ is really messed up..i wouldn't let him moderate anything on here..Jim K-falls

Would like to know this, cause I want to make use of this feature in future.
