This machine is affectionally called a "white sides" because of the coloring. It is rather rare and an example of the very earliest of the bally EM's. I would venture to say that a "white sides" in good shape would be the most collectable of the Bally EM machines.

I really like the white sides EM and if he was local I would offer $750 not sure on the value of the star special but 1K seems like its over priced.

I concur with all the responses.  The white sides are very old and collectible because they ushered in all of the other games that we enjoy.  The key word there is ENJOY.  1 coin in and pull the handle would drive me bonkers.

The game is not working 100% and it may be a pain in the butt to repair.  Speaking of repair, I understand that there is life altering voltage running through the early model white sides at every turn.  The way I stray with a screwdriver from time to time that is not a good look for me.

If  you get it at the right price then at this rare game to your collection.  Either way please keep us posted.

If I have the right info ... the white sided 742 model had the original coils at 110 Volts and the tech kept shocking the hell out of themselves. So this "white sided" model was the first of the EM development and short lived. They quickly developed a 50 volt system to help with the survival of the tech who just didn't respect the laws of voltage, or had the knowledge. Not a large amount of them in existence, at least in their 110 volt original condition.

I yield to to Dave's superior EM knowledge.  I have wanted to go to Chicagoland since I heard about it.  I would have to time my return and go directly to family court and file for a divorce when I left there.  I would buy so much stuff that the wife would have no part of it or me.

Sometimes there was no date stamped on those very early EM's. The seller should check to see.
