Title: S+ Mini Photon Progressive Help
Post by: danatlvc on June 09, 2017, 03:32:52 PM
Howdy All,
I have an S+ Triple RWB with a progressive for the top award behind the glass. The machine works fine, but with the progressive only the decimal point lights up. Is there any way to get it to work or set it to an amount like 10,000 or does it need to be linked to work & unable to set up for stand alone?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

You have what's called a "Mini Photon" progressive.  Good news: it's fully functional as a stand-alone unit, and will be a fun addition to your machine once you get it configured.

I've moved your post to the progressive section.  A search of "mini photon" both here (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=search) and also looking at the old posts on the archive site (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?board=29.0) should get you pointed in the right direction.

The best thing you can do to help us help you right now is to post what SS and SP chips you're running in your machine (the SP chip is the most important part, but you can easily get both chip numbers at the same time).  The directions to configure the meter depend a lot on what SP chip is in your machine.

You can find directions on how to determine the chip numbers in your machine with this FAQ: http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm (http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm)

It looks like on yours that you use a SET90 chip to set up the progressive stuff.

I have attached the PSR for your SP1160 chip, as well as the PSR for the SET90 chip which contains the progressive setup information.

I'll have you refer to a previous post I made years ago helping someone else with their mini photon meter.  Of note, their SP chip used DIP switches on the board to configure the progressive stuff -- your SP chip ignores the DIP switches, and does require the use of the SET90 chip to configure the progressive information.

Here's the post I'm talking about: http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=24559.msg191541#msg191541 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=24559.msg191541#msg191541)

Again, those directions won't work 100% for you since you have to use the SET chip to configure most of your progressive.  It should give you an idea of what you're going to need to do, however, and when combined with the correct PSRs for your game, should get you on the right track.

Additionally, here's a cheat sheet of what I believe the correct settings are for your setup:

Page 0, option 31: set to 3 (stand-alone only)

Page 0, option 35: set to 1 (one progressive level only)

Page 0, option 60: set to 1 ("alternating progressive", although you only have one)

(Note, the following options use the progressive meter in the glass to display the setup parameters.)

Page 9, option 1: [your progressive reset/base amount, in dollars and cents] (if you have a quarter machine and want to start it at 10,000 coins, set this to $2,500.00)

Page 9, option 2: [your choice of maximum progressive amount, in dollars and cents]

Page 9, option 3: [your choice of percentage of what percentage of each coin inserted/played gets added to the meter]

Page 9, option 4: [what you want the current progressive amount to be, in dollars and cents -- should be at least the reset/base amount, and not higher than the maximum amount]

Good luck!
