Title: PE+ with arcade software - BV problem need help
Post by: Badbaud on June 29, 2017, 02:16:27 PM

For New Jersey arcades.
Got some in and the software is very strange.
Pay table is very generous. Machines payout tokens.
Had to replace some batteries and my clear chip worked but no set chip that I own will enable the bill validator.
I figured the software was written to automatically recognize the bill validator but when returned any board that was cleared will not accept bills.
Is there a special set chip for these NJ boards?

just a thought, but maybe NJ jurisdiction software for these machines does not allow bill validator operation? Sometimes the gaming regulators impose some goofy rules.

The software provides enhanced sounds I have never heard on a PE+ and the graphics is a higher resolution but if there is a error opening and closing the door does not clear the error.
I have to run a clear chip to clear any error, even a simple 3200 code.
The customer wanted me to make sure the boards were set for bill validator after the repairs, a busted diode one one, a bad RAM chip on another, a bad program socket on another. The 4th board had no problem I could find so I just re-seated everything, just in case.
On the first 3 I had to run the clear chip to get a good game.
None of my set chips would set the bill validator. Stepping through the test procedure told me the bill validator was already enabled. I assumed the special software dumped the set into the EEPROM upon power up.
So I sent the 4 boards back and the only one that still takes bills is the one I did not clear. But they all said the bill validator was enabled.
I explained to the customer that the boards were all set for BV in software. They are demanding a set chip.

I retained a copy of the bin's and will load them into a board tomorrow and see if those 8 DIP switches on the PE+ were utilized some how to enable features.
