I have a DD Deluxe game in for service, They want the bill acceptor to work. It is a DBV-200 unit, it cycles on start up but that's it. I tried my set 15 chip without any success. This game has a SP708 chip and a SS4253. Do I need a different set chip other then my 15 set to program this DBV-200? I have bypassed the coin door switch, tried a different cash can, and a second DBV-200. I have the newest software version V2.60-04 ID022-023.
What have I missed? I did set the machine to 9 1 after using the set15, then set the machine denom to .25c, then pushed the white button and waited for the 0 to reappear in the door display, then reinstalled the SP708 chip.. Bill acceptor cycles on startup, but I don't get a bezel light.. Only thing I can think is that I need a different set chip :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: ..

some ideas to check.....
Are all of the DBV-200 head dipswitches set to OFF? You might try switching #10 to the opposite position. I think that's the switch that changes it from ID-022 to ID-023.
Also, what about the limit settings on the machine, like the credit limit? I don't think the bill acceptor will accept a bill if that would put the machine over the credit limit.
The SP708 document lists SET005, 015 and 017 for enabling the bill acceptor and to change the coin denomination. So I think you are ok using the SET015 chip.
Is the coin denomination set? You should be able to see it set to "25" (assuming quarter coin usage) in the Test/Setup menus. EDIT - oops, reread your post, see that you have set the denom.
Also, it looks like the credit limit matches whatever the hopper limit is, so make sure it is high enough to allow bill acceptor to work. I think hopper limit is set by dipswitches on mpu, or in the Test/Setup menus.

I looked at the dip switches at a quick glance, and the one on the end of the largest was on. The machine is set to quarter and the machine is set to 400 as max credits. I only tried to insert a dollar bill. The acceptor wouldn't even attempt to take the bill.

With the cost of a wba nowadays, I would just switch it out. The DBV200 has always been a problematic dbv for me. I've switched all my S+ to wba as soon as I got them.

I would just switch this out if it were mine, but it's in for a battery, newer deck buttons to get rid of the yellow S+ ones.and to replace the broken door bezel on the bill acceptor. I was asked to see if it worked. I found the door switch was still hooked up, so I connected those two wire.
One question I have is, are those a pair of optics I see in the back where the cash can located?

Gary, get into the test mode, input tests, #27 this will send a signal to turn on the front bezel lamps and allow you to insert a dollar into the unit, it should take it in and hold it for a few seconds then return it. also you can try the stand alone test for the 200 head , this will tell you the bills it will accept.
as for the cash can optics, when powered up and cycled, remove the cash can, if the unit begins to cycle, it is looking for the removed cash can, if it does this the optics are good, if not check the black connector up front on the right the pins get bent and out of order.

Jim. I am not sure how to just into test 27? I down loaded a manual here but it's not a lot of help. I did find a bent pin in that 4 pin plug on the right front. The bill acceptor does cycle when cash cans removed

The mini-switch on the end of the longer dipswitch is #10, next to the shorter dipswitch block. It doesn't take long to flip it the other position and see what happens. But if this DBV-200 was working at one time in this machine then the dipswitches are likely set correctly.

The way they mount a DBV200 in this S+ is with 4 small Phillips screw on the bottom. These have to be removed to get at the dip switches. I'm currently running DBV-200-SS 2.60-04 ID022-023. This is the latest software version I could track down for the S+ using a DBV-200.
What's a little confusing is that the dip setting. I have 10 on, but then it says if using ID023 then 10 should be off. So is 10 on or off with this version of software?

SP708 is an ID-022 chip. So unless I am misreading something dipswitch #10 should be ON (and all others OFF). Does the dipswitch seem flaky or intermittent, or is it solidly ON?
Attached is the JCM document for that DBV software you have, it says the same thing about dipswitch #10 set to ON for ID-022.
That DBV-200 SS software ver 2.60-04 should work ok, it is the next to newest that got released, there was only one version newer (2.61-04) and all it added was better $10 bill recognition. Did the owners of the machine say if the DBV ever worked in the past, even with just $1 bills?
Have you had a chance to try any of the DBV-200 SelfTests in the charts above? Some of them have you insert a bill to see if it pulls in, maybe one of the ones posted earlier is what Jim was referring to.

No I have not tried any self test.. Like I said, you have to preform surgery just to get at the dip switches with the way this DBV is mounted.. Now I'm beginning to understand why the DBV units are replaced with the WBA acceptors..

Gary, if this is a standard S+ transport and head assembly then you should only have to remove one screw to undo the head from the transport assembly. its right up front at the bottom, this will allow you to turn it over and view and change the settings and put it in place and preform the test without securing the screw to hold the head to the transport.
