Title: How common are they in the home market.
Post by: Retro tech repair on June 21, 2014, 06:44:44 PM
So I have been watching normal sources for them recently and haven’t really seen any. I found a place that I can get them in but they are not cheap.  I’m not really a collector in fact currently I don’t own any slots myself, and have never been into a casino.  That being said if I did end up buying one I probably only keep it long enough to get it working play with it a wile figure out how it works.

So im wondering are they not the common because they are not that popular(like the evo) or if they are just hard to get ahold of. And what are the chances I would get stuck with this thing.

Also if you don’t mine me asking those that do have them what is a decent price for them.

They are still very expensive for the home user, due to the "young" age. Give them a couple years and we may see them come around more often. Right now, it's pretty much just casinos that have them. You would not get stuck with one, as more likely, not find a buyer that would part with the cash it takes to buy one.

I may be able to help.  First off there are about 100 goadjubles of avp's-- I just made that word up. If you want what is on the floors now, Yes you can buy some but won't be happy with them.  I have two s-avp MLD games that have been " converted" and they are worth 20k each for what they are.  There is G-23  top-dollar,sex in city, hangover, etc. in a s-avp G-23 cab., There are trim-line, Royal's etc.  so avp is like all others LOTS of diff. AVP's .  AVP is just a word like ALPHA and Bluebird.  Lots of choices there.  There is nothing wrong with the avp platform -just hard to get now as stated earlier.  The games kick ass.  Set it up correctly-never have to worry about changing glass, strips etc, etc. because the monitors are mld-(expensive).  Sorry about the rant,  I just happen to have a few that I spent much time on and know they are great games.

not all are in 20k  range  , casinos  don't sell games that still earn big bucks  cheap

Depends on the game,  I can gurantee you he does not have them.  Have to start somewhere? and build what you want--Cost-$ -These are not no frebbie give-away games here.  Good Luck as they say in casinos.

Sizzler - just wondering how you arrived at the $20K price? Not doubting you here, just curious. We know these games aren't selling every day on Craigslist, but just wondering where that number came from? Is it local sale, speculation, or ???

Get your wallet out. G22 cabinets with AVP engines, $5300.00. (IF they will sell to you). Most of the BIG distributors won't even talk to you unless you're with a casino. Good Luck! Here's the link:

i had already found where to get them. i actually work for a dealer and we had the option to get some in. i would have been buying it to play with basically then put it up for sale when i got bored, but with out the guarantee i can resell it local the cost was too much to rick getting stuck with it.

most homeowners won't spend $4k-$5k for a slot machine. Pinball machine? Yes. Slot Machine? No. It would not be a fast (if ever) sale on CraigsList. if you're not in the resale business, buy games to enjoy them. there is a lot of value in that alone...

I enjoy working on them I don't play them much, and don't own any machines. If I was to buy a slot to keep it would be an old mills.

We recently got in a half dozen AVP's.  Five of them sold almost instantly with some phone calls all in the $4.5K range.  They are not cheap but have to say after working on them that I was impressed with the intuitive menu, ease of setup, and easy to understand troubleshooting system.  Oh and before I get PM's...the #6 machine has some issues and will be held for parts to represent warranty on the others sold for the next year.  On the downside, at least for now, parts are not going to be readily available for these machines.

Thought I would share some pics of the machine and menu for anyone interested in them.

Technically what we had I have to believe to be one of the best versions of AVP currently available.  These are technically called "S MLD" for Multi-layer display...so the lower monitor had a transmissive screen and 3D-depth to the picture.   These had 3.0 brain-boxes and were the super rare to find "Winner's Choice Multi-Games".  So yes each machine had several games available....at least 7 different games and a few had up to 12 games available.  Each machine had at least 2 video slots and then a collection of 3 and 5 reel ...classic reel type slots.  On many of the games it was possible to set up multi-tier progressives.

they do look interesting but most of the customers we get hate the modern machines we have had an evo hybrid for years, a Cleopatra igame for almost a year, and texas tea for quite a few months. yes i know evos are not popular and that's why its not selling, but the cleo and the texas tea are decent games.

Man, I think my wife would pay some tall coin for one of these.  It's the only game she plays anymore in the casinos.

Thanks,
Jason

Yes, I can attest to what Jim-Bettor said.  Being a s-avp (mld) owner these machines are silky-smooth and are what is on the floors today.  I first started dabbling with these two years ago and it is nice to see others getting into them.  As far as parts....Parts are available on a limited basis,  The lower mld monitor is higher than giraffe ***** -and that is pretty high! .The top monitors aren't cheap either, Then depending on model/type throw in the dynamic button panels!. They are fun.  I just really need one thing to finish my g-23 (put it all together)  -This is a reel-depth/mld machince as well-the elusive Top-Dollar!.  Give it more time and these will be discussed here daily like s-2k etc.!!.
